Sat Dec 6 201416:44Pittsburgh activated Jones (wrist) from injured reserve Saturday
Pittsburgh activated Jones (wrist) from injured reserve Saturday, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Ed Bouchette reports.
Jones' return will be a welcome one for the Steelers as they seek to aid their vulnerable secondary with a decent pass rush, but he's unlikely to post enough tackles to get on the IDP radar in most formats.

Jones (wrist) returned to practice Monday, Dale Lolley of the Observer-Reporter reports.
With his return to practice, the Steelers now have a 21-day window in which to make a decision on when/if to add Jones to their 53-man roster. Prior to suffering his wrist injury on Sept. 21, the 2013 first-rounder had recorded 14 tackles and two sacks in three games.

As a result, Jones is slated to miss at least the next eight games, with Nov. 30 against the Saints representing his earliest possible return date. In the meantime, Arthur Moats is in line to man the Steelers' right outside linebacker slot.
Mon Sep 22 201411:07Jones will likely require wrist surgery
Jones will likely require wrist surgery, which would sideline the linebacker indefinitely, ESPN.com reports.

Jones totaled six tackles (four solo), including a sack in the Steelers' 30-27 win over Cleveland Sunday.
The Steelers worked with Jones this preseason with the hopes it would result in an improved pass rush. The sack matches Jones' 2013 season total. The defense will have a short week to get ready for the Ravens Thursday, who yielded three sacks Week 1.
Mon Sep 1 201420:52Jones confident he can rise to expectations of team this season,...
Jones is confident he can rise to the expectations of his team this season, a belief that is shared by head coach Mike Tomlin, according to Steelers.com. "I expect (Jones), and I expect us, to continually get better even as we push through opening day and into this season," said Tomlin.
Jones played in 14 games in his rookie season, but the Steelers will need him to produce more than the one sack he managed in 2013. As a result, he is expected to do less "freelancing" this season, working within the structure of the defense. The result could lead to a significant increase in sacks, making Jones fantasy relevant in IDP leagues.

Jones (groin), who missed the Steelers' preseason game against Buffalo, practiced on Monday and is on track to play Thursday against Philadelphia, according to ESPN.com. "He looked good today in practice," said linebackers coach Keith Butler.
If Jones can play, the Steelers' would finally have what is anticipated to be their entire regular season starting defense on the field at the same time. This would likely be the only time to evaluate the unit as a whole, as most starters are expected to see limited action, if any, in their final preseason game against the Panthers.

Jones did not play in Saturday's preseason game versus the Bills due to a groin injury, The Observer-Reporter reports.
Jones was replaced in Pittsburgh's starting lineup by outside linebacker Chris Carter. At the moment, the extent of Jones' groin injury is unclear, so it will be worthwhile to monitor his practice involvement this week.
Mon Aug 11 201420:03Jones recorded one sack
Jones recorded one sack, matching his rookie season total, in the Steelers' preseason game againt the Giants, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Last year's first-round pick finished his rookie season with 40 tackles (30 solo), but had difficulty getting to opposing quarterbacks, limiting his role to backing up Jason Worilds. This season, Jones is expected to start opposite Worilds, with Lawrence Timmons and rookie Ryan Shazier inside, giving the Steelers a formidable linebacking corps. The Pittsburgh defense looks to improve upon the 34 sacks they tallied in 2013.
Sun Mar 2 201416:33Steelers want Jarvis Jones to get stronger
The Steelers want 2013 first-round pick Jarvis Jones to "hit the weight room" this offseason.
Jones was "overwhelmed at times" as a rookie, failing to maintain a starting job when LaMarr Woodley and Jason Worilds were both healthy, and underwhelming as a pass rusher. He did earn positive marks in PFF's run-defense grades. As the Steelers are expected to decide between Woodley and Worilds in free agency, Jones is scheduled to enter 2014 locked into the starting lineup.

Thu Jan 2 201411:26Jarvis Jones to be a starter in 2014
Steelers OLB Jarvis Jones is fully expected to be a starter in 2014.
The Steelers are only expected to retain one of Jason Worilds and LaMar Woodley. That means we can pen in Jones as a starter despite a wayward rookie season that saw him post one sack and get benched for ineffectiveness. Jones, the No. 17 overall pick last season, knows he has a long way to go. "I need to get stronger, I need to get faster, I need to become a better student of the game," he said. "There's a lot of stuff I need to work on."

Tue Oct 29 201312:22Jarvis Jones falling down depth chart
Jarvis Jones has been demoted back behind Jason Worilds on the depth chart.
Speaking Tuesday, coach Mike Tomlin said Jones has to play better from an assignment standpoint. He added that Worilds' attention to detail has been better. It's a disappointing turn of events for the No. 17 overall pick in the draft, as he was making a few flash plays each game.

Thu Sep 12 201309:07Jarvis Jones now running with starters
Steelers first-round OLB Jarvis Jones is running with the starters at practice this week.
One week into the season and we already have a changing of the guard. Jason Worilds started in Week 1, ensuring that the Steelers defense would have a rookie in their starting 11 for the first time since Kendrell Bell in 2001. But the talent gap here is wide, as Jones showed while making three tackles for a loss on his 26 snaps against the Titans.

Tue Sep 3 201312:37Jarvis Jones to start off behind Worilds
Jarvis Jones will come off the bench behind Jason Worilds in Sunday's opener against the Titans.
The Steelers haven't had a rookie starter on defense since 2011 and they're not going to break that trend now. Jones, the No. 17 overall pick this year, will rotate into sub-packages at right outside linebacker and get after the quarterback. He should eventually surpass Worilds.
