Mon Oct 12 201522:03Okafar emerged from Sunday's win with calf strain
Okafar emerged from Sunday's win with a calf strain, which will keep him out for a month, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.
The recovery timetable signifies the Cardinals' hope, but they will exercise caution with one of the primary pass rushers. With a number of injuries befalling the linebacker ranks in Arizona -- reserve Kenny Demens suffered a torn ACL on Sunday -- the team inked Dwight Freeney to a veteran minimum deal, though LaMarr Woodley and Markus Golden could be the immediate beneficiaries of available snaps.

Okafor was ruled out of Sunday's game at Detroit with a right calf injury, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Okafor required assistance to reach the sideline, so the ailment could be one that results in an absence. His week of preparation should shed light on his ability to play next Sunday in Pittsburgh.
Sun Oct 4 201515:48Okafor (shoulder) active for Sunday's contest versus Rams
Okafor (shoulder) is active for Sunday's contest versus the Rams, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Okafor is one of two Cardinals linebackers to log more than 80 percent of the defensive snaps this season -- 82 percent, to be exact -- but he's managed just nine tackles (six solo) and two sacks. As the season continues, expect his primary contributions to take place in the sack department.

Okafor (shoulder) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Rams.
Okafor logged full practices Thursday and Friday, setting him up for his normal workload in Sunday's game against the Rams. St. Louis has only surrendered five sacks this season, but Nick Foles has only attempted 87 passes.
Thu Oct 1 201518:00Okafor (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday
Okafor (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Despite suffering a reported dislocated finger in Week 3, Okafor landed on the injury report this week with a shoulder issue, which wasn't particularly concerning after all. He'll aim to build upon his two sacks to kick off the season.

Okafor (finger) is listed on the Cardinals' injury report Wednesday with a shoulder concern, which limited his practice reps, the Cardinals' official site reports.
Okafor dislocated a finger Sunday against the 49ers, which limited him to 67 percent of the Cardinals' defensive snaps. With one assisted tackle on the ledger, he has nine tackles (six solo) and two sacks on the season. Thus, he's on the same pace as his eight-sack campaign from 2014.

Okafor suffered a dislocated finger during Sunday's win against the 49ers, the Cardinals' official site reports.
Entering the game, Okafor had logged 88 percent of the Cardinals' defensive snaps this season, but he was contained to 34 of 51 (67 percent) in Week 3, according to Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix. Okafor managed just one assisted tackle as well, bringing his season-long line to nine tackles (six solo) and two sacks. Expected to serve as one of the team's top pass rushers following an eight-sack campaign in 2014, he should get back on the ledger sooner rather than later.

Okafor gathered five tackles (four solo) and two sacks during Sunday's win against the Saints.
Okafor finished last season strong, recording six of his eight sacks from Weeks 10 through 16. With two on the ledger already in 2015, he's laying the groundwork for his official breakout as a premier pass rusher. As long as he continues to receive a substantial workload -- he logged 67 of the Cardinals' 74 defensive snaps Sunday, according to Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix -- Okafor could be a hot IDP commodity in the very near future.

Okafor is penciled into one of the Cardinals' starting outside linebacker spots for the 2015 season, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Okafor was selected in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but his rookie campaign was wiped away after one appearance due to a torn biceps. While his recovery extended into last season, resulting in inactive status through the first three contests, his pass-rushing prowess emerged as the year went on, including a seven-game stretch from Weeks 10-16 in which he recorded six of his team-high eight sacks. He finished the year logging 66 percent of the defensive snaps, which led all Cardinals outside linebackers, according to Pro Football Outsiders. At the very least, expect Okafor to be a reliable source of sacks in IDP formats in his third professional season.

Okafor supplied two solo tackles, two quarterback hits, one sack, and one pass defended in Sunday's win against the Chiefs.
Over the last five games, Okafor has nearly matched Calais Campbell's sack count during that stretch, falling one shy with five. Meanwhile, acting as John Abraham's (concussion) replacement, Okafor has more than held his own, racking up 17 quarterback pressures, 16 QB hits, seven sacks, five tackles for loss, and one interception in 10 outings this season.
Tue Oct 14 201410:42Okafor supplied four solo tackles
Okafor supplied four solo tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits during Sunday's win versus Washington. Overall, he took the field for 54-of-60 defensive snaps, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
A fourth-round pick of the 2013 draft, Okafor made just one appearance as a rookie before tearing his biceps. After a lengthy recovery effort, he was inactive in each of the Cardinals' first three games this season, before making a brief appearance last weekend in Denver. Prior to receiving 90 percent of the snaps this past Sunday, he had just 15 total in his career, but with John Abraham (concussion) out for the season and Matt Shaughnessy (knee) on the IR/designated-to-return list, opportunity abounds at outside linebacker for Okafor.
Sat Sep 6 201417:42Okafor (thigh) ruled out for Monday's game against Chargers
Okafor (thigh) is ruled out for Monday's game against the Chargers, the Cardinals' official site reports.
Okafor is listed as John Abraham's backup at weakside linebacker these days, so his absence is more of a hit to the Cards' defensive depth than it is to fantasy owners.

Okafor has been working at weakside linebacker with the Cardinals' first-team defense during John Abraham's (personal) absence from training camp, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.
A fourth-round pick in 2013, Okafor sustained a torn biceps in his only appearance last year -- Week 3 at New Orleans -- bringing his rookie campaign to an abrupt end. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Abraham was arrested for a DUI in June, which marks the second such violation of his career. If a suspension is eventually handed down, Okafor could be in line for an increased role, though the likes of Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander (foot) could also be considered for increased snaps in this scenario.
Sat May 24 201413:41Okafor could be a late-camp cut?
ESPN Cardinals' reporter Josh Weinfuss believes second-year OLB Alex Okafor "will be buried on the depth chart" and could be a late-camp cut.
It would be a precipitous fall for a player selected in the fourth-round in the 2013 draft. Okafor was never a special athlete, but is long at 6-foot-5 and has strong hands. If Okafor does manage to stick around he will contribute on special teams and as a situational pass rusher.

Wed Feb 5 201418:03Cardinals OLB Okay to be ready in 4-6 weeks
Cardinals second-year OLB Alex Okafor (torn biceps) is expected to be "full-go" in 4-6 weeks.
Okafor, the No. 103 overall pick in last April's draft, appeared in one game as a rookie before injuring his arm. He's been rehabbing at the team facility and will continue to do so this spring. Okafor will be a rotational edge rusher and contribute on special teams as a sophomore.

Tue Sep 24 201320:43Cardinals lose OLB Okafor (biceps) for season
Cardinals fourth-round OLB Alex Okafor suffered a torn biceps and is done for the season.
The word comes straight from coach Bruce Arians' mouth. Okafor is the third outside 'backer the Cardinals have lost for the season in the past two days, joining Lorenzo Alexander and Sam Acho. Okafor played five snaps last week but was likely in line for a bigger role this week. The Cardinals will promote ILB Kenny Demens from the practice squad to take Okafor's roster spot.
