Bass was claimed off waivers by the Titans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Despite a solid training camp while working as a 3-4 outside linebacker for the first time in his career, Bass was caught up in a numbers game with the Bears and let go. He should have an easier path to seeing snaps with the Titans, where he could see time behind outside linebackers Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan.

Bass picked up three sacks and 10 total tackles across his eight games with the Bears in 2014.

Bass took on an increased role for the Bears in the second half of the season after Lamarr Houston was lost to an ACL tear. He ended up starting in the season finale against the Vikings with Willie Young (torn Achilles) out, recording a season-best four tackles. It's doubtful that Bass will ever emerge as a long-term starter at defensive end for the Bears, but he's shown flashes of at least being a competent rotation piece on the line.

Bass was waived by the Bears on Tuesday.

Bass played in 12 games with Chicago last season, but his role was reduced significantly with the additions of Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston and Willie Young in the offseason. The 24-year-old Bass played on just six defensive snaps through the team's first five games of 2014.

Bass was outplayed by UDFA Ryan Richardson during Oakland's preseason, but he was a dominant small-schooler who looked like a strong developmental prospect during pre-draft all-star games. He'll be a deep reserve in Chicago.
