Jones has had back surgery and will be out a number of weeks, ESPN.com reports.
A second-year player, Jones was going to be a depth lineman who could play any position. With back injuries, however, it's tough to nail down a recovery time. He could be out a couple regular season games or he could miss the entire season.
Wed Apr 30 201415:31Rams G/C Barrett Jones bigger and stronger
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rams second-year G/C Barrett Jones looks noticeably bigger and stronger.
Jones, the 113th overall pick in last year's draft, didn't play a single snap as a rookie. At 6-foot-4 and 308 pounds, he needed to bulk up. Technically, he can play all five positions on the offensive line but doesn't project as a starter at any. Jones will battle for a job to be part of the 46-man active gameday roster.

Sun Jul 28 201319:10Barrett Jones cleared to practice
Rams activated G/C Barrett Jones (foot) from the active/PUP list.
He's been cleared to practice. Rokevious Watkins' release opens the door for Jones to make a run at St. Louis' starting left guard job, where he'll compete with Chris Williams. Most likely, Jones will end up as a "swing" backup.

Mon Jul 22 201323:44Barrett Jones to miss beginning of Rams camp
Rams rookie G/C Barrett Jones will miss the first 1-2 weeks of training camp while continuing to recover from a Lisfranc fracture.
The Rams had expected Jones to be ready for training camp, so he's behind schedule. The fourth-rounder stands little chance of winning a starting job before Week 1. Ex-Bears first-round pick Chris Williams is the favorite at left guard.
