"He looked more athletic than I remember him," Fisch said. "When he was doing his rehab, he spent so much time on his lower body, he came back looking faster." Joeckel missed the final 11 games of last year with a broken ankle. He struggled in his only start at left tackle, but should receive a boost playing next to Zane Beadles. Austin Pasztor will bookend Joeckel at right tackle.

Last year's No. 2 overall pick will have a plate and two wires inside his right ankle for the rest of his life, but Joeckel is all systems go. "I had no problems at all this week," said Joeckel, who doesn't turn 23 until November. "It felt good." Joeckel played 272 snaps as a rookie, 260 at right tackle. Pro Football Focus graded him negatively as both a run and pass blocker. He'll play left tackle this year.

Jaguars placed LT Luke Joeckel on injured reserve with a broken ankle, ending his season.
The No. 2 overall pick of April's draft is expected to soon undergo surgery. Coach Gus Bradley "definitely" expects Joeckel to be ready for the Jaguars' offseason program. Making the full-time switch to left tackle, Joeckel would benefit immensely from a full offseason. Joeckel turns 23 in November.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley expects LT Luke Joeckel (broken ankle) to "definitely" be ready for the team's offseason program.
Bradley also revealed Joeckel will undergo surgery "sooner rather than later." With Eugene Monroe sold to the Ravens for a song, the Jags are moving forward with Cameron Bradfield at left tackle. Bradfield was shaky in 764 snaps a season ago.

Jaguars LT Luke Joeckel says his broken ankle is not a "career-ending or career-threatening thing."
We're only posting because it's a bit eye-brow raising Joeckel felt the need to say that. Nevertheless, there's no reason to believe he won't be 100 percent for next summer's camp. The No. 2 overall pick of the 2013 draft will be returning from a rookie season where he got dominated in his five-game cup of coffee.

Jagaurs LT Luke Joeckel left Sunday's Week 5 game at St. Louis with an ankle injury and is doubtful to return.
Joeckel was run-blocking near the end of the first quarter when a Rams defender unintentionally rolled into the back of his right leg. The No. 2 overall pick -- making his first start at left tackle thanks to the Eugene Monroe -- went down in a heap and had to be carted off. Cameron Bradfield came on and immediately surrendered a pressure that led to a Blaine Gabbert pick-six.

Jaguars first-round RT Luke Joeckel said he needs to "clear my mind and play football" and "not have the mental stuff."
Making the adjustment to the NFL is already hard enough, but on top of that Joeckel is still learning a new position. He was a left tackle in college. "I have to get over the mental errors," Joeckel said. "I've never been a Mental Error Guy but there are a lot of things going on." He's committed two false start penalties and given up two sacks and five hurries through two games.
