The Cowboys signed Smith off the practice squad Saturday, Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports.

With Rolando McClain (groin) officially doubtful for Sunday's game against St. Louis, the Cowboys will bring Smith aboard for depth at the linebacker position. During Smith's senior season at San Jose State in 2013, he recorded 159 tackles (78 solo) and one interception.
