The Cardinals and Grice (shoulder) reached terms of an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Grice managed only two appearances in the preseason due to injury, with a shoulder issue effectively wiping away any chance of landing on the Cardinals' 53-man roster. With the injury settlement in hand, he can now pursue an opportunity elsewhere once the requisite number of weeks pass by.

The Cardinals waived/injured Grice (shoulder) on Saturday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Grice missed time at the outset of training camp due to a hamstring injury, which resulted in no action in the preseason opener. He proceeded to garner some run in the next two games -- nine carries for 17 yards and two touchdowns to go with three catches for 32 yards -- but again sat out Thursday's exhibition. While a shoulder issue was likely the spur, he is now a candidate to land on injured reserve.

Grice (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.

As did David Johnson, further bolstering the team's backfield depth behind Andre Ellington. Meanwhile, it's possible that veteran Chris Johnson could join the team and in such a scenario, Grice's chances of fantasy relevance in the Arizona ground game would be further diminished.

Grice has been sidelined more than a week due to the Cardinal running back injury of the day -- his hamstring -- which will also keep rookie running back David Johnson on the pine. Johnson's Grade 2 strain could allow Grice additional opportunity to stake a claim to a spot on the 53-man roster, if and when he returns to the practice field.

Grice joins fellow backs Andre Ellington and David Johnson on the sideline with an injured hamstring. It's unclear when he'll return to action, but Stepfan Taylor, Kerwynn Williams, and Robert Hughes will hold down the fort in the meantime.

Grice finished the regular season with 15 rushes for 41 yards, seven catches (on 11 targets) for 29 yards, and one rushing touchdown in 10 games.

A Week 9 touchdown aside, Grice's output was uninspiring to say the least, with a mere 2.7 yards per carry and 4.1 yards per reception. After Andre Ellington (hernia) was lost for the season in Week 13, it was believed that a committee approach would rule the day. Instead, newcomer Kerwynn Williams busted out with the Cardinals' first and only 100-yard rushing performance of the season in Week 14 and never looked back. Over the final four contests, Williams (53 rushes) and Stepfan Taylor (38) dominated the RB workload, while Grice mustered four carries and four catches. If he finds a home in 2015, Grice will likely find himself situated at the bottom of the pecking order.

Grice did not have any carries or targets in Thursday's 12-6 win over the Rams.

According to Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus, Grice only logged two snaps, compared to 34 for Kerwynn Williams, 28 for Stepfan Taylor, and six for Robert Hughes. Given that both Williams and Taylor had some success on the ground, a similar split seems likely in Week 16, against the red-hot Seattle defense.

In what was expected to be a committee approach behind Stepfan Taylor out of the backfield in Andre Ellington's (hernia) absence, coach Bruce Arians eventually admitted that the hot hand ruled the day in Week 14, allowing Kerwynn Williams to post 100 yards on 19 carries. Grice himself was limited to three runs for six yards, which was firmly behind Williams and Taylor (six rushes for 19 yards). On Monday, though, Arians announced that Taylor remains the starting running back, according to Darren Urban of the team's official site, meaning game-day matchups could ultimately determine who emerges from Arizona's corps of running backs Thursday at St. Louis.

It was stated by the Cardinals web site earlier this week that Grice would start in Ellington's place, but the Arizona coaches evidently changed their minds over the week. The issue of who starts probably doesn't change much regarding the workload split in the Arizona backfield, however -- Grice was always the obvious favorite for passing and catch-up situations, whereas Taylor has more of a short-yardage and between-the-tackles background. The workload split between the two might be determined by game flow rather than anything predictable.

Grice will be the first one called upon out of the backfield, if Andre Ellington (hip) is limited or sidelined next Sunday versus the Chiefs, according to coach Bruce Arians, the Cardinals' official site reports.

Ellington was knocked out of Sunday's loss in Atlanta with a hip pointer, and Grice stepped into the void, taking five carries for 16 yards and three catches for 24 yards. The output surpassed Grice's marks on the season entering Week 13 -- six runs for 13 yards and one touchdown -- which would experience at least a modest boost if Ellington remains hobbled. However, Arians noted Monday that Stepfan Taylor and Robert Hughes would also be considered for RB touches, meaning potential owners should watch the situation closely as the week unfolds.

Grice had five carries for 16 yards and caught 3-of-3 targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss at Atlanta.

Grice saw additional work because starter Andre Ellington left the game with a hip injury. Grice was the only other runner to receive a carry, although Stefan Taylor caught a short touchdown pass late in the game, while also scoring a 2-pt conversion. If Ellington is forced to miss next week's game against the Chiefs, we'd expect Grice and Taylor to split the load.

Grice took the field for nine of the Cardinals' 67 offensive snaps during Sunday's win at Dallas, the FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.

Despite ranking third in snaps among Arizona backs -- Andre Ellington took 45, while Robert Hughes earned 17 -- Grice outpaced Hughes easily in terms of touches. Working as the primary backup to Ellington, Grice recorded five carries for 12 yards, which included a goal-line rush from one-yard out for his first career touchdown. Meanwhile, Hughes only made an impact in the passing game, as expected, hauling in one catch (on two targets) for 18 yards. As long as Stepfan Taylor is sidelined due to a strained calf -- at least 1-to-3 more weeks -- Sunday's breakdown of the RB workload should be expected. Nevertheless, Ellington is the sole option of fantasy note out of the Cardinals' backfield, barring his health, of course.

Grice had five carries for 12 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Cowboys.

With backup running back Stepfan Taylor out with a calf injury, Grice took over the backup role behind Andre Ellington, who finished with 21 carries for 95 rushing yards and four catches on four targets for 39 receiving yards and a touchdown. Grice's fantasy upside isn't great, but it looks like he'll keep the backup job as long as Taylor is sidelined.

Grice (knee) is listed as active Sunday against the Eagles, the Cardinals' official site reports.

Grice will suit up for the first time as a member of the Cardinals, who claimed the running back off the Chargers' practice squad in late September. The Cardinals haven't settled on a steady complementary back to Andre Ellington, but Stepfan Taylor's performance from a week ago -- 12 carries for 40 yards, two catches for 19 yards, and two total touchdowns -- could keep Grice contained to the sideline.

Grice is listed as inactive Sunday at Oakland, the Cardinals' official site reports.

A sixth-round pick by the Chargers earlier this year, Grice was swiped of their practice squad in late September by the Cardinals, who are presumably searching for a bruising threat out of the backfield. He even received some first-team reps at Friday's practice, but those were courtesy of a barely available Andre Ellington (foot), according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site. There's nothing to see hear with Grice, the rookie, as Ellington is the unquestioned lead back in Arizona.

There's probably not much to read into here so long as Andre Ellington stays on the field, but this could indicate that the Cardinals are auditioning Grice as the top backup for Ellington's role as the team's primary passing down back. Grice was an extremely accomplished receiving back at Arizona State, but he doesn't possess nearly as much explosiveness or quickness as Ellington. He probably isn't as strong of a runner, either.

The Cardinals have signed Grice to their active roster, the Arizona Republic reports.

Grice, who had been on the Chargers' practice squad, will bolster the Cards' running back depth, but he's a break or two away from the fantasy radar.

The Chargers are not expected to sign Grice from the practice squad despite injuries to both Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

This report indicates that the Bolts will likely bring somebody in from outside the organization in the coming days. The only two healthy running backs on the roster at this point are Donald Brown and undrafted rookie Brandon Oliver. Grice appeared to be the logical next man up, but this news seems to indicate that the Chargers do not think he is ready for primetime.

Multiple guys would probably have to go down before Grice would have any chance to make an impact in the regular season. The Bolts are carrying four running backs on the active roster: Ryan Matthews, Danny Woodhead, Donald Brown and Branden Oliver. Still, the move suggests that the team likes what they saw in the rookie during camp. Grice had his best game of the preseason in Week 4, rushing for 79 yards on 17 carries.

The sixth-round draft pick was beat out for the Chargers' No. 4 running back job by Branden Oliver, but assuming Grice clears waivers, he'll be a candidate for San Diego's practice squad.
