Butler recorded six tackles (four solo) and an interception in Sunday's Week 2 game against the Bills.

The hero of last year's Super Bowl picked off his first pass of the season on Sunday in fast-paced, high scoring affair in Buffalo. Butler has been on the field for the Patriots' defense for the entirety of both games and he's recorded 11 tackles in the process.

Butler was on the field for 68 of 73 defensive snaps in Thursday's season opener against the Steelers, ESPN.com reports.

As expected, Butler was the Patriots' starting left cornerback in the game, notching five tackles in the process. He's on the radar in deeper IDP formats so long as he retains the assignment.

In the wake of the departures of Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner and Kyle Arrington, Butler has a good chance to emerge as a starter in the Patriots' re-tooled cornerback corps, the Boston Herald reports.

Butler, who recorded 15 tackles in 11 regular season games in 2014, didn't play a ton last season prior to making his Super Bowl-clinching interception, but he's poised to take on a larger role this season and potentially enter the IDP radar in the process. At this stage, Butler and Logan Ryan have emerged as the frontrunners for the team's vacated starting cornerback slots.

Butler is expected to make his first appearance in the Patriots' offseason program this week, the Boston Herald reports.

In advance of the Patriots' first OTA on May 18, Butler was sidetracked due to weather-related issues, delaying his arrival to Foxboro. Despite informing the team, the mishap was enough to keep him off the field the past three weeks, though he continued to take part in meetings, film sessions, and weight training. Once training camp arrives, the Super Bowl XLIX hero will battle the likes of Logan Ryan and Bradley Fletcher for a starting cornerback job.
