Fri Jul 31 201511:16Bashaud Breeland: Suspended For One Game
Breeland will be suspended for one game to start the season, NFL.com's Albert Breer reports.
The suspension stems from an incident last summer in which Breeland was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He went on to start 15 games as a rookie but was often picked on by opposing quarterbacks. With offseason acquisition Chris Culliver locked into one starting job, Breeland will likely have to hold off David Amerson and DeAngelo Hall (Achilles) for the other spot. The Washington secondary, while addressed in the offseason, still appears to be a weakness.

Breeland was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana Monday night, NFL.com reports.
Breeland is competing for a backup cornerback role, and was tied for the team lead with six tackles in Thursday's preseason opener. Since he didn't have a positive drug test, he won't yet enter the league's substance abuse program, but he is subject to disciplinary action under the personal conduct policy.

ESPN Redskins blogger John Keim doesn't expect fourth-round pick Bashaud Breeland to see time in nickel packages this season.
Keim considers Tracy Porter the "clear" No. 3 corner despite missing OTAs with a shoulder injury. Breeland was used strictly on the outside during spring workouts and will likely spend most of 2014 backing up David Amerson and DeAngelo Hall. E.J. Biggers, Chase Minnifield, and Richard Crawford are also competing for snaps in sub packages.
