It's possible the Titans will have a quarterback competition, but Mariota would probably need to fall flat on his face to not come out as the winner. That leaves Mettenberger as the likely No. 2 quarterback in an offense that lacks high-end weapons at the skill positions, making him expendable in all but the deepest of dynasty leagues. There's perhaps some chance Mettenberger requests a trade, but he's unlikely to find a team that would give him a good chance to win the starting job, so it probably makes sense to just put on a happy face in Tennessee.

According to a report on NFL.com, Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt isn't a fan of Mariotta's style but management relishes the thought of adding a Heisman Trophy winner to a drab and dreary team.
