The Rams will release Gilbert, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Given that Gilbert's release leaves the Rams with just two quarterbacks on their roster, the report suggests that another move by the team to bolster the position could be in the works.

Gilbert completed one of his two passes for 23 yards in a 33-14 victory against Cleveland on Saturday.

Gilbert has been outplayed by Austin Davis this preseason and is likely to be one of the final cuts unless Sam Bradford is out for an extended period of time.
