Lawrence recorded five tackles and his first regular season sack in Sunday's OT loss to the Saints.

He also had two sacks in the 2014 postseason, but this was his first one that would matter for IDP leagues. Lawrence will be joined in Week 5 by the returning Greg Hardy and with the veteran pass rusher commanding more attention from the offense, Lawrence could find it easier to get to the quarterback going forward.

Lawrence was one of the stars of Saturday's practice, blowing by starting right tackle Doug Free in one-on-one drills, Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com reports.

With Greg Hardy suspended the first four games of the season the Cowboys will be counting on Lawrence to anchor their pass rush, and in the early part of training camp it looks like the second-year player will be up to the task. Double-digit sacks seems like a distinct possibility for Lawrence this season, especially once Hardy is back and drawing the focus of opposition blockers.

He can now officially be ruled out through the first eight games of the season, but the Cowboys' decision to use non-season-ending IR indicates that the team still hopes for a contribution from the rookie. While it's hard to imagine Lawrence emerging as anything close to an every-down player this season, there's always some chance that other injuries could eventually force him into such a role.

The timetable for his recovery is still 8-12 weeks, but it's hard to see the rookie having much of an impact in the second half of the season given all the development time Lawrence will miss.
