Wed Mar 12 2014 | 20:53 | Jets sign Breno Giacomini |
Jets signed RT Breno Giacomini, formerly of the Seahawks. |
A very limited talent, Giacomini has forged a career as a starter with sheer determination and physicality. He's a brawling blocker, and will take the place of Austin Howard in New York. We wouldn't call it a big downgrade, but it's certainly not an upgrade, either. The Seahawks essentially made no attempt to retain Giacomini. He's a rather uninspiring addition for Gang Green. |

Wed Mar 12 2014 | 00:26 | Jets to visit with FA RT Giacomini Wednesday |
Free agent RT Breno Giacomini will visit the Jets on Wednesday. |
With two-year starter Austin Howard headed to Oakland, the Jets are in the market for a new right tackle. They've talked with free agent Zach Strief and will investigate Giacomini. Giacomini is an above-average pass protector but struggles in the run game, even though he brings a bit of a nasty streak to the field. GM John Idzik knows Giacomini from their days together in Seattle. |

Mon Feb 17 2014 | 12:22 | Chances slim that Seahawks re-sign Giacomini |
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer puts the odds at less than 30 percent that the Seahawks re-sign free agent RT Breno Giacomini. |
Giacomini is going to command more money than the Seahawks are willing to pay, especially since they already have significant dollars tied up in LT Russell Okung and C Max Unger. If Giacomini finds a softer market than anticipated, he could be back on a cheap deal. The 28-year-old is our No. 8 free-agent tackle. |

Thu Nov 14 2013 | 08:32 | Breno Giacomini, Okung are practicing |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini (knee) and LT Russell Okung (toe) are both practicing this week. |
Yes, the Seahawks are about to get another infusion of talent. Along with Percy Harvin's impending return, their starting tackles are expected to get some snaps against the Vikings this week. It allows natural guard Paul McQuistan to go back inside and should improve Russell Wilson's protection vastly. |

Mon Oct 14 2013 | 17:35 | Breno Giacomini not yet ready to return |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini (knee scope) is still "a few weeks away" from returning. |
Giacomini had the scope in late September and recently needed the knee drained again due to swelling. Rookie Michael Bowie is now the Seahawks' right tackle. Pro Football Focus has graded Bowie positively as a run blocker. |

Mon Sep 30 2013 | 13:03 | Breno Giacomini has knee surgery |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini underwent a cleanup knee procedure on Monday. |
He'll likely be shelved 2-3 weeks at minimum. With Giacomini sidelined against the Texans Sunday, the Seahawks started seventh-round rookie Michael Bowie. J.J. Watt's defense sacked Russell Wilson five times with ten QB hits. |

Wed Jun 5 2013 | 16:45 | Breno Giacomini slowed by knee issues |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini has been slowed in OTAs by a knee issue, but won't require surgery. |
Coach Pete Carroll said Giacomini could have practiced this week if necessary, so it's safe to assume he'll be ready for training camp. Giacomini underwent elbow surgery in January, but has since recovered. Giacomini graded out as a bottom-12 tackle in Pro Football Focus' ratings last season, but is locked into a starting job heading into the final year of his contract. |

Thu Jan 31 2013 | 01:27 | Seahawks RT Giacomini gets slight pay bump |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini triggered an escalator in his contract, raising his 2013 salary from $3 million to $3.5 million. |
Giacomini started all 16 games in 2012, but he graded out near the bottom of Pro Football Focus' offensive tackle ratings for the season. He also recently underwent right elbow surgery, but should be ready for OTAs. Giacomini is entering the final year of his deal, and the Seahawks could look for an upgrade. |

Tue Jan 29 2013 | 19:38 | Seahawks RT Giacomini has elbow surgery |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini underwent right elbow surgery and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks. |
Giacomini should be ready in time for OTAs in April. The 27-year-old started all 16 games in 2012, but he graded out as one of Pro Football Focus' worst tackles in the league. Giacomini has a knack for picking up personal foul penalties. |

Sun Oct 7 2012 | 21:37 | Giacomini benched for Omiyale |
Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini was benched in favor of Frank Omiyale during Seattle's Week 5 win over the Panthers. |
Giacomini committed two personal fouls after committing one in Week 4. Omiyale is a journeyman, but could keep the right tackle job. In addition to the penalties, Giacomini has struggled as a blocker this season. He got eaten alive by Rams LE Chris Long in Week 4 and has been a weak link as a run blocker. |

Fri Feb 10 2012 | 16:06 | Seahawks re-sign RT Giacomini to $6M deal |
Seahawks re-signed RT Breno Giacomini to a two-year, $6 million contract with a $1.5 million signing bonus. |
Giacomini, 26, had been an extreme liability in previous spot appearances before James Carpenter's ACL injury forced him into the starting lineup down the 2011 stretch. The former Packers draft pick started seven games, holding his own and flashing difference-making potential as a run blocker against the Bears and Cardinals. Giacomini will likely compete with Carpenter to keep the job in camp. At worst, he'll return as a versatile reserve. |

Tue Aug 30 2011 | 19:30 | Giacomini battling Carpenter at right tackle |
Breno Giacomini is now battling first-rounder James Carpenter for the starting right guard job. |
The bad news just keeps on coming in Seattle. Carpenter was terrorized by Von Miller last week, but it's hard to imagine Giacomini is a better option after spending the majority of last season on the practice squad. With a dysfunctional quarterback and offensive line, we're avoiding Seahawks fantasy players like the plague this year. |

Tue Nov 9 2010 | 11:35 | Giacomini waived by Seattle |
Seahawks waived T Breno Giacomini. |
It's the second time Giacomini has been waived this season. It could be an indication that the team likes the chances of Russell Okung being ready for Week 10. Giacomini will be re-signed to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed. |
Sat Nov 6 2010 | 17:17 | Seahawks sign T Breno Giacomini |
Seahawks promoted T Breno Giacomini from the practice squad, and released T Chris Center. |
With both Russell Okung and Tyler Polumbus expected to miss Week 9, Giacomini will fill in at left tackle against the Giants. G Chester Pitts is another candidate to start at LT, although he's a bit of a wild card given that Pitts hasn't started at LT in five years, and is coming off microfracture surgery on his knee. Get the Giants D/ST in your active lineup if you haven't done so already. |

Sat Oct 23 2010 | 16:20 | Seahawks release OT Breno Giacomini |
Seahawks release T Breno Giacomini, and signed RB Chris Henry from the practice squad. |
With starting LT Russell Okung having returned to full health, the Seahawks opted for running back depth as they prepare for Arizona's 29th-ranked rush defense in Week 7. Henry should not be touched in fantasy leagues with Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett handling most of the touches in Seattle's running game. |

Tue Sep 28 2010 | 16:03 | Seahawks nab Giacomini from Packers |
Seahawks signed OL Breno Giacomini off the Packers' practice squad. |
Seahawks GM John Schneider, familiar with Giacomini from his time in Green Bay, reportedly considered trading for him before final cuts. The Vikings had already attempted to sign Giacomini, with the Packers upping his salary to retain him on the practice squad. He'll add depth to a leaky Seahawks' O-Line. |

Sat Sep 4 2010 | 19:59 | Packers waive Giacomini, Harrell |
Packers waived OL Breno Giacomini, QB Graham Harrell, S Anthony Levine, LB Cyril Obiozor, LB Maurice Simpkins, and WR Chastin West. |
The Packers were shopping Giacomini hard the past few days but couldn't find a taker. Matt Flynn will back up Aaron Rodgers, as expected, but the Packers like Harrell enough to try to get him back on the practice squad. |
Wed Sep 1 2010 | 23:53 | 'Several teams' interested in Giacomini |
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that "several teams" have shown interest in Packers backup RT Breno Giacomini. |
Why -- we can't tell you, because Giacomini has been a disaster during the preseason, particularly in pass protection. Giacomini does have ideal size and a nasty demeanor, so perhaps he'd fit better in a power-blocking system. |

Mon Aug 23 2010 | 18:30 | Giacomini even worse against Seahawks |
After a poor preseason opener, Packers reserve OT Breno Giacomini was even more brutal in the second exhibition game against Seattle. |
Giacomini allowed a sack, a quarterback hit, two pressures, and blew a run block that resulted in Brandon Jackson losing two yards. Remarked OC Joe Philbin, "If you're going to play offensive tackle in the National Football League ... you have to be able to block defensive ends in pass protection." |
