Biermann (non-injury related) is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Biermann was absent from Wednesday's practice, but logged full sessions Thursday and Friday. He provided a lift for the Falcons while seeing 27 snaps off the bench in Week 2, providing four tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

The Falcons have re-signed Biermann, ESPN.com reports.

Biermann, who notched 75 tackles and 4.5 sacks for the Falcons this past season, returns to further bolster an Atlanta defensive line that has also added Adrian Clayborn and O'Brien Schofield to the mix this offseason.

Biermann had the best statistical season of his career in 2014, recording 77 tackles, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and three pass defensed.

Biermann had a great bounce back year one season after being limited to two games with a torn Achilles. He picked a great year to have a healthy and productive season, as he'll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Falcons are expected to have a fair amount of cap room this offseason, so they'll likely pursue Biermann if they can get him for the right price.

Biermann racked up five total tackles and 1.5 sacks against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Sunday's game was Biermann's best performance of the season, as he registered his first sack on the year. He'll look to build on that performance in Week 11 against Cam Newton and the Panthers.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Falcons are expected to re-sign free agent DE Kroy Biermann within the next 36 hours.

Per beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter, the re-signing is "imminent." Biermann should come relatively cheap after a disappointing 2011 season. Per Ledbetter, the estimated cost will be $10 million to $12 million over 3-4 seasons.

The Falcons are expected to use a "revolving door" approach at defensive end this season.

Incumbent LE Kroy Biermann was oh-so-close to countless sacks last season, but finished off only three of them. He's now No. 3 on the depth chart, sharing snaps with RE John Abraham and new starting LE Ray Edwards. The wave-type rotation should keep all three pass rushers fresh. Biermann has plenty to play for in the last year of his deal. Abraham's in a contract season too.

Scouts Inc.'s Matt Williamson believes Falcons LE Kroy Biermann may be "on the cusp of breaking out."

Williamson praises Biermann's "better-than-advertised speed" and "motor that never stops." He also suggests that Biermann is a better pass rusher than given credit, which echoes data from Pro Football Focus. Though the Falcons are expected to target defensive ends in free agency, that may be more due to John Abraham's age and expiring contract than Biermann's effectiveness.

Although Falcons DE Kroy Biermann recorded just three sacks in 2010, his 48 quarterback disruptions were just nine fewer than Pro Bowl teammate John Abraham's total.

Biermann put pressure on the quarterback on 11.71 percent of pass-rushing opportunities, which put him in the same neighborhood as Terrell Suggs and Julius Peppers. He also played the run well, finishing 13th in Pro Football Focus' defensive end ratings. Biermann is a candidate to break out with double-figure sacks in 2011.
