Wed Jul 23 201414:07Texans sign RT Tyson Clabo to 2-year deal
Texans signed RT Tyson Clabo to a two-year contract.
Clabo, 33 in October, will push incumbent RT Derek Newton for the starting job after second-year OT Brennan Williams was released this week. Newton surrendered six sacks and 37 quarterback hurries as a 16-game starter last season, while also taking a league-worst 13 penalties and grading out as a bottom-five tackle at PFF. Clabo wasn't much better as a 15-game starter for the Dolphins. He gave up 11 sacks and 31 hurries. We'll give Newton the slight edge.

Mon Jun 9 201416:18Cardinals work out Tyson Clabo
The Cardinals are working out free agent RT Tyson Clabo on Monday.
It's a possible indication of worry in Arizona's organization about in-house RT options Bobby Massie, Bradley Sowell, and Nate Potter. Clabo is coming off a poor season in Miami, though he did finish strong. He's 32 years old.

Mon Oct 21 201315:20Dolphins giving up on RT Tyson Clabo
The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports the Dolphins plan to bench, trade, or release RT Tyson Clabo.
This news comes one day after OL coach Jim Turner claimed Clabo "played a great football game" in Sunday's Week 7 loss to Buffalo, despite getting manhandled by Bills LE Mario Williams. Clabo has been the NFL's single worst offensive tackle through six games, according to Pro Football Focus' grades. He's been exposed as just another blunder amid GM Jeff Ireland's sputtering master plan to build an NFL team through free agency. The Dolphins have dropped three straight games since a fluky 0-3 start, and head to New England in Week 8.

Sun May 5 201310:38Dolphins sign Clabo to shore up right tackle
Dolphins agreed to terms with RT Tyson Clabo, formerly of the Falcons, on a one-year contract.
The move essentially locks in Jonathan Martin as the Dolphins' starting left tackle after an abominable rookie season. Miami is showing an awful lot of blind faith in last year's second-round pick. Clabo, going on age 32, graded out as the NFL's fifth-best right tackle in 2012, per Pro Football Focus' ratings. He was strong in both protection and run blocking, although 6-foot-6, 329-pound Clabo has always been a power blocker. He'll have to learn to zone block in Joe Philbin's scheme.

Fri May 3 201312:38Report: Clabo has lot of fans in Valley Ranch
ESPN Dallas reports that free agent RT Tyson Clabo has "a lot of fans inside Valley Ranch" -- the Cowboys' practice facility.
The Cowboys have made calls to both Clabo and fellow free agent RT Eric Winston just in case RT Doug Free refuses a pay cut. Beat writer Todd Archer says there are "far fewer" fans of Winston at the Cowboys' facility. Winston is said to be seeking $3-4 million per year, but the Cowboys aren't willing to pay him that. They could, however, be willing to pay Clabo that kind of coin.

Tue Apr 30 201315:39Cowboys 'remain in contact' with Tyson Clabo
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Cowboys "remain in contact" with free agent RT Tyson Clabo.
Per La Canfora, the Cowboys "really like" the former Falcon. The Cowboys have flirted with both Clabo and Eric Winston this offseason, but have curiously kept Doug Free and his $7 million salary on the roster. Clabo would be a massive upgrade, but it will be a tricky signing if he's seeking much more than $3 million. Big D, as usual, is right up against the salary cap.

Tue Apr 30 201312:21Tyson Clabo will visit with Dolphins Tuesday
Free agent RT Tyson Clabo will visit the Dolphins Tuesday night.
Now that the Branden Albert trade has cooled, the Dolphins are moving on to other options. They've looked at both Bryant McKinnie and Eric Winston, and will now kick the tires on the best free right tackle available in Clabo. However, we're still not sure this would solve the Dolphins' real problem -- keeping Jonathan Martin off Ryan Tannehill's blind side. Clabo is a power blocker that has no NFL experience at left tackle.

Mon Apr 29 201312:01Dolphins not interested in Tyson Clabo
The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins aren't interested in free agent RT Tyson Clabo.
Clabo's agent reportedly reached out to the Dolphins, but they never called back. The Cowboys and Jaguars expressed interest in Clabo following his release from the Falcons, but he's yet to make a visit in free agency. Clabo is coming off a strong season, but will likely have to be amenable to an incentive-laden, one-year contract.

Thu Apr 18 201314:54Report: Cowboys remain interested in RTs
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Cowboys "remain interested" in free agent RTs Tyson Clabo and Eric Winston.
La Canfora believes Clabo would be Dallas' "guy" over Winston if given the choice, but the team needs to clear more salary cap space. Clabo fits the Cowboys' power-blocking scheme much better than Winston.

Thu Apr 4 201319:16Cowboys, Jaguars contact RT Tyson Clabo
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Cowboys and Jaguars have contacted free agent RT Tyson Clabo.
Clabo was released in a cap move by the Falcons on Thursday morning, and it's not a surprise he's already drawing interest. The Cowboys currently have overpaid bust Doug Free manning right tackle. The Jaguars have already stated that if the season started today, then they don't know who would anchor the right side of the line. Clabo, 31, has a nastiness to him, and he graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 5 right tackle in 2012.

Sat Sep 15 201215:57Falcons RT Clabo questionable for Week 2
Falcons RT Tyson Clabo (hip) is listed as questionable for Week 2.
Clabo was a limited participant in practice on Friday and Saturday. He is one of the top right tackles in the league, so his loss would be significant to a line trying to stop Broncos top pass rushers Von Miller and Derek Wolfe from the left side. If Clabo can't suit up, 2010 third-rounder Mike Johnson would fill in.

Thu Jul 28 201120:51Falcons stave off Bills, bring back RT Clabo
Falcons agreed to terms with RT Tyson Clabo on a five-year contract.
It certainly seems as if Clabo wanted to return to Atlanta all along and only used the Bills' interest as leverage. It's important signing for the continuity of Matt Ryan and the passing offense, as Clabo was one of the premier right tackles in the NFL last year. Per Pete Prisco CBSSports.com, the Falcons are now expected to turn their attention to left guard Justin Blalock.

Wed Jul 27 201121:14Clabo in serious talks with the Bills
Contract talks between free agent RT Tyson Clabo and the Bills remain ongoing and appear to be serious.
If Clabo wants to play for a contender, he's only doing this for leverage. "It's a possibility. But nobody has agreed to terms or anything," he said. Especially on the offensive line, many pieces have yet to fall into place. Once Clabo or someone like Jermon Bushrod signs, the rest of the OLs will have a starting point.

Wed Jul 27 201112:27Report: Bills, Seahawks in on RT Clabo
The Falcons are reportedly competing against the Bills and Seahawks for free agent RT Tyson Clabo.
Seattle is looking for one veteran offensive lineman as insurance at guard and right tackle. They're also in on OG Robert Gallery, but will sign just one of the two. It's a pleasant surprise to hear the Bills involved, as they have seemed satisfied with below-average tackle play the past couple of seasons.

Tue Jul 26 201122:11Report: Falcons close to re-signing Clabo
Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports the Falcons are "close" to re-signing free agent RT Tyson Clabo.
Adam Caplan of FOX Sports heard Clabo was a fallback option in Dallas if they lose out on Doug Free, but it looks like that may no longer be an option. Clabo has been the Falcons' top priority in free agency.

Mon Jul 25 201108:48Report: Clabo is staying put
Free agent RT Tyson Clabo is now expected to be retained by the Falcons, according to beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter.
Clabo is going to test the market, but Ledbetter is now hearing that the Falcons will match offers. Of their three free agent offensive linemen, Clabo is expected to be the No. 1 priority, followed by RG Harvey Dahl and then LG Justin Blalock. Retaining two of these linemen would be a boost to Matt Ryan.

Fri Jul 15 201109:29Clabo hoping for $35-$45 million deal
Free agent RT Tyson Clabo "hopes" to stay in Atlanta, but is "excited" to test his value on the open market.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution expects Clabo to land a deal in the $35 to $45 million range, similar to the contracts for Vernon Carey and David Stewart. Clabo would just assume stay with the Falcons for that kind of money, but he's more likely to get it elsewhere. The Seahawks, Broncos, and Bears could be in on the bidding, according to beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Wed Jul 13 201114:02Tyson Clabo wants 'big-time pay day'
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, free agent RT Tyson Clabo is looking for a "big-time pay day" on the open market.
Clabo has never earned more than $2.52 million in a season and turns 30 this year, so it's no surprise that he'd want to max out on what could potentially be his last NFL contract. Pro Football Focus graded Clabo as strong in pass blocking last year but a bit of a liability as a run blocker. He's expected to be replaced by Garrett Reynolds in Atlanta this season.

Fri May 6 201108:13Falcons could take hits along O-line
The Falcons could be bracing to "take some hits along the offensive line" in free agency.
RT Tyson Clabo, RG Harvey Dahl, and LG Justin Blalock all have expiring contracts, so GM Tom Dimitroff could find himself in a bind after betting the farm on Julio Jones. On the other hand, at least two could end up restricted pending the labor outcome. The Falcons have groomed Mike Johnson, Jose Valdez, and Garrett Reynolds, but they'd be steps down from the high-quality veterans.
