Currently a free agent, Thompson split last season between independent ball and the Mets' Triple-A affiliate. The 28-year-old made appearances in the majors with the Reds in 2008 and 2011. He'll serve the suspension once he latches on with a team. |

Thompson, who was acquired from the Nationals in 2006, hasn't appeared in the big leagues since the 2008 season due to shoulder problems. Still only 25 years old, he had a 4.44 ERA and 41/17 K/BB ratio over his first nine starts at the Double-A level this season. |
