OF Jason Bourgeois, who was playing for Triple-A Reno, was traded by the Diamondbacks to the White Sox on Monday in a cash deal. Bourgeois, 34, was batting .356/.385/.442 with no homers and nine RBIs through 33 games for Reno this year. He appeared in 68 major league games for the Reds last year, batting .240/.294/.332 with three homers and 14 RBIs.

Bourgeois is out of the lineup again Monday against the Nationals, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Bourgeois will sit for a second straight day Monday, but he did enter Sunday as a pinch hitter. Brennan Boesch will replace him in center field Monday, batting seventh for the Reds.

Bourgeois is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

This appears to be a standard day off for Bourgeois, who has started 10 of the Reds' last 12 games. Skip Schumaker will get the start at center field and bat leadoff.

Bourgeois went 3-for-5 with three runs scored in Saturday's 12-9 victory over the Brewers.

Bourgeois was a terrific table setter from the leadoff spot Saturday, getting on base virtually all night ahead of the big bats of teammates Joey Votto and Jay Bruce. The veteran outfielder has received his most extensive playing time of 2015 in recent weeks and has been particularly productive as of late, currently carrying a six-game hitting streak and having hit safely in nine out of his last 10 games. Bourgeois also boasts a .304 average overall during the month of August.

Bourgeois is out of Friday's lineup against the Brewers.

Bourgeois appears to be receiving a standard maintenance day, with Ryan LaMarre starting in center field in his place. The 33-year-old probably isn't in the long-term plans for the Reds, but he should continue receiving starts while Billy Hamilton is injured.

It's the fourth start in five games for Bourgeois, who seems to have taken over as the Reds' primary center fielder while Billy Hamilton (shoulder) is on the DL. Though he's not quite the burner Hamilton is, the 33-year-old Bourgeois may be just as capable of a hitter, and still swiped 24 bags in 33 attempts for Triple-A Louisville a season earlier. Those in NL-only or deeper mixed leagues may want to take a look at Bourgeois while he sees usage in a favorable spot in the order.

In 40 at-bats since coming off the DL, Bourgeois has hit a paltry .175/.214/.175 with a stolen base.

Bourgeois has had a couple of spots starts in the last week to give Jay Bruce and Billy Hamilton days off, but without either Bruce nor Marlon Byrd getting dealt, his playing time chances going forward will be sparse.

The Reds and Mets will resume a suspended game before playing Sunday's originally scheduled game, so Bourgeois will join the team in advance of the nightcap. The outfielder will be activated from the 60-day DL, where he's been since the start of the season.

Bourgeois suffered a fractured shoulder in mid-March, and he's expected to be out for 4-to-6 weeks. Given that he'll likely need a lengthy rehab assignment, the Reds are fine with ruling him out until late May. Once healthy, Bourgeois will likely just be a candidate for a reserve role in the outfield.

The Reds purchased Bourgeois's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Bourgeois spent the entire season at Louisville, hitting .278/.329/.364 with 24 stolen bases. At 32 years old, there's no long-term investment potential for Bourgeois, but at least he gets rewarded with a big league salary for a month.

Bourgeois victimized Kyle Lohse in the fifth inning for his first spring homer. Bourgeois doesn't have much of a shot to make the 25-man roster, but if he plays well at Triple-A, he'll be an option for the Reds if they should need outfield depth during the season.
