An MRI on Jason Bourgeois' left ankle came back negative.
Bourgeois was scratched from Sunday's lineup with a sprained left ankle, something that has bothered him for the past few days. He probably wouldn't have started Monday, anyway, but it doesn't sound like he's going to miss much time.

Sat Jun 4 201122:27Bourgeois feeling great physically
Jason Bourgeois (oblique) says he is 100 percent healthy.
"I felt good in the box the last couple of days," he said. "My body feels good, my legs feel good. I really couldn't ask for a better situation, physically." Bourgeois was hitting .407 with 12 stolen bases through 54 at-bats before landing on the disabled list on May 8, and was also beginning to get some playing time at second base. He'd be infinitely more valuable at second base than in the outfield, so his position eligibility is something to monitor in deeper mixed leagues.

Astros activated OF Jason Bourgeois from the 15-day disabled list.
Bourgeois has been out since early May with an oblique injury but appears to be back to 100 percent following a rehab assignment. He was batting .407 with 12 stolen bases over 54 at-bats before going down with the injury, and although he'll be used in a backup role, he could get enough playing time to where his speed is still useful in deeper leagues.

Jason Bourgeois (oblique) swung a bat Monday for the first time in two weeks.
Bourgeois took about 25-30 swings off a tee at about 90-95 percent intensity. "I could tell my swing muscles are still there, like my hands and hips are working together, just like I had been doing for three or four months [before the injury]," Bourgeois said. "It's been a great day so far." It's possible that he could go out on a rehab assignment later this week.

"I feel great," Bourgeois said. "I'm just kind of ready for this to be over with, but I think I'll be able to go on a rehab assignment soon -- maybe Thursday or Friday. That's not official at all, but it's looking good for me to go out on that off-day [Thursday]."

Sun May 22 201112:15Jason Bourgeois not close
Astros manager Brad Mills said Jason Bourgeois (oblique) is "definitely not close to playing."
Bourgeois has been sidelined for two weeks but is still not running at 100 percent and he's not swinging a bat at all. It isn't particularly surprising, as oblique usually keep guys out at least 3-4 weeks.

Mon Jan 17 201113:11Bourgeois hit .297 in Mexican winter league
Jason Bourgeois batted .297/.353/.439 across 155 at-bats in the Mexican Pacific League this winter.
The Astros are likely to carry Bourgeois as a backup outfielder if the strong offensive showing continues this spring and into the regular season. He registered a poor .562 OPS in 136 plate appearances last year, but Houston can probably expect better results from the 28-year-old in 2011.
