Thu Dec 9 201000:20Phillies agree to deal with lefty Reyes
Phillies signed LHP Dennys Reyes to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with a $1.35 million option for 2012.
Reyes drew a surprising amount of interest this winter despite struggling against left-handers in 2010. He did post a solid 3.55 ERA, but most of his success came against righties and he's more of a common middle reliever than a lefty specialist. But the Phillies surely know that. They'll use him as a guy in the sixth or seventh inning to clear out a couple of threats.

A source tells David Murphy of the Philadelphia Daily News that the Phillies haven't made a serious offer to Dennys Reyes and aren't close to signing him.
Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch made it seem like a deal was close on Tuesday, but it appears that report was premature. In any case, the Phillies remain in the market for a left-handed reliever and are also reportedly interested in George Sherrill.

Fri Nov 26 201011:49Phillies have interest in lefty Dennys Reyes
The Phillies have expressed interest in free agent left-hander Dennys Reyes, according to FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi.
Reyes posted a solid 3.55 overall ERA in 2010, but he was actually more effective against right-handed hitters than he was lefties. The Phillies will hope that he shuts down all types of batters if they eventually reach an agreement. He earned $2 million in his last season with St. Louis.

Dennys Reyes (elbow) played catch Monday, but has yet to throw off a mound.
"It's getting better," said Reyes. "We'll see how it feels tomorrow. It's one of those things, you need to let it heal. It's going to take a little bit of time. I have to go day by day and see how it feels every day when I get to the park." Reyes doesn't expect to throw off a mound Tuesday, but will need at least one bullpen session before returning to action. The veteran left-hander hasn't pitched since last Sunday due to a strained left elbow.

Fri Aug 20 201021:18Reyes sidelined with strained left elbow
Dennys Reyes is currently sidelined with a strained left elbow.
Reyes hasn't pitched since injuring the elbow in last Sunday's game against the Cubs. "I was wishing I could go today, but it's one of those things, a strain, you have to let it heal," said Reyes. "Doctors said hopefully a few days and I'll be back. It could be two, three, I don't know. I'm going to follow what they say." An MRI on Monday revealed only a slight strain and Reyes played catch on both Thursday and Friday. Consider him day-to-day for now.
