Sat Jan 18 2014 | 13:01 | Shawn Riggans works out for Orioles |
Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports that Shawn Riggans worked out for the Orioles this week in Sarasota. |
The 33-year-old backstop hasn't appeared in the major leagues since he was a member of the Rays during the 2009 season, and hasn't played minor league ball since 2011. While the O's were simply kicking the tires, he's unlikely to return. |

Shawn Riggans hasn't reported to Brewers camp yet because he is battling pneumonia. |
Riggans will probably be limited in camp once he shows up so that he can rebuild whatever strength he lost to the illness. But he is ticketed for Triple-A Nashville anyway and probably won't climb his way to the major leagues unless there's an injury at the big league level. |
