Red Sox activated OF Ryan Kalish from the 60-day disabled list.
Once a top prospect, Kalish has been limited to just 93 games since the beginning of 2011 due to a variety of maladies. Mon Dec 24 201208:33Kalish to platoon with Gomes?
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo expects Ryan Kalish to platoon with Jonny Gomes in left field next season.
The Red Sox said after signing Gomes that they didn't plan on platooning him, but Cafardo isn't buying it. Shoulder issues have stalled Kalish's development in recent years, but he's healthy now and remains an intriguing mix of power and speed to go along with some on-base skills. Daniel Nava is another guy that could wind up seeing a good number of at-bats against right-handed pitching.
