Tue Jun 18 201319:46Alfredo Aceves earns victory over Rays
Alfredo Aceves pitched five innings of one-run ball for a victory in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rays.
Aceves was at just 75 pitches when the rains came and ended his outing. He walked three today, all in the second inning. That was when the run scored, too. Other than that, he was excellent for the third straight start. Whether he'll get another one anytime soon is up in the air.

Wed Jun 12 201322:43Aceves stifles Rays to pick up third victory
Alfredo Aceves limited the Rays to one run over six innings to earn the victory on Wednesday.
Aceves allowed four hits and four walks but was tagged for just an Evan Longoria solo home run for the Rays' only run of the game. It's the second-straight start in which the right-hander has gone six while allowing just one run -- the last was on May 27, as he's been mostly relegated to spot-start duty this year -- and the victory moved him to 3-1 despite an unsightly 5.58 ERA.

Mon May 27 201323:16Alfredo Aceves earns win over Phillies
Making an emergency start with Clay Buchholz sidelined, Alfredo Aceves pitched six innings of one-run ball to beat the Phillies on Monday.
When Aceves's head is on right, his rubber arm and ability to pitch in any role make him valuable to a major league team. The Red Sox likely would have given him to any team interested in taking on his salary earlier this month, but no one stepped up, which might prove fortunate for Boston. Of course, he's still a leading candidate to be sent down this week with Franklin Morales set to come off the DL.

Alfredo Aceves has reported to Triple-A Pawtucket.
The Red Sox unsuccessfully shopped Aceves, but he predictably didn't draw any trade interest. He was optioned to the Triple-A level on Wednesday after posting an 8.66 ERA and 2.09 WHIP over 17 2/3 innings. Aceves is expected to be used as a starter in the minors and should return as a swingman later this season.

Fri Apr 26 201308:59Aceves will be used as a starter in minors
Alfredo Aceves will be used as a starter at Triple-A Pawtucket.
"The capability is there. Yet we've got to get him back on track. Not just inning to inning but outing to outing," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "He is a depth starter for us. Whether that's 6, 7, 8, or 9 is more predicated on rest and who's available on a given day. He goes back to that role." The Red Sox will try to trade Aceves first, but it's unlikely that they'll find any willing partners.

Thu Apr 25 201312:14Alfredo Aceves expected to report to Triple-A
Alfredo Aceves is expected to report to Triple-A Pawtucket within the next 72 hours.
Aceves was officially optioned to the Triple-A level on Wednesday after posting a brutal 8.66 ERA and 2.09 ERA over 17 2/3 innings with Boston. If he doesn't report to Pawtucket, he will not get his $2.35 million salary. The Red Sox are reportedly trying to trade the 30-year-old right-hander, but they're doubtful to find much of a market.
