Soto had a day to remember at the plate Tuesday, going 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI.
Soto has performed well in part-time duty this season behind the plate, hitting seven home runs in 121 at-bats. The backstop has hit .248 this season, but is batting a strong .375 this month.

Soto went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in a losing effort Friday during Game 1 of a doubleheader with Kansas City.
Sharing the workload in a split doubleheader with Tyler Flowers, Soto will be back on the bench for Game 2 on Friday night. Soto is hitting .232/.306/.411 with five home runs this season in a backup role on the south side of Chicago.

Soto hit a solo home run in the White Sox's loss to the Pirates on Thursday.
The home run tied the game at two, but the Pirates quickly re-gained the lead. Notably, this was Soto's third consecutive start behind the dish, marking the first time he has made three straight starts since the first week of May. The White Sox have gotten little from either of their catchers this season, so Soto may get some additional playing time over Tyler Flowers so the team can see if he can provide any greater level of consistency.

Soto delivered a game-winning double in extra innings after coming off the bench earlier in the game.
Starting catcher Tyler Flowers was used at first base after Jose Abreu left with a finger ailment, forcing Soto into action. Flowers should not be called into the infield often, so Soto should remain on the bench. Six of Soto's 14 hits this season have gone for extra bases, but he has struggled to make contact otherwise.

Soto got a rare start and went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in a 3-2 win over the Twins on Friday.
Soto last played Monday, as he's been seeing little time behind Tyler Flowers. However, the strong effort may help Soto gain a bit more playing time, as Flowers has struggled offensively for the majority of the season. Of course, so has Soto.

Soto went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the White Sox's loss to the Brewers on Monday.
The home run was his first since early-April, and it was just his second of the season. Soto has begun to eat a bit more into Tyler Flowers' playing time (he has 12 starts on the year to Flowers' 15), but he has posted a nearly-identical, hardly-impressive stat line.

Soto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the White Sox's win over the Twins on Saturday.
Soto made his second start in a White Sox uniform, and he rattled off his first hits of the season. He should see regular starts at catcher when fellow former Cub Jeff Samardzija is on the mound, and Soto's power should play well in U.S. Cellular field.
Wed Apr 8 201518:40Soto will catch Thursday's game
Soto will catch Thursday's game, the Chicago Sun-Times' Daryl Van Schouwen reports.
Manager Robin Ventura anticipates Soto catching a couple days per week and occasionally getting starts as the DH against lefties. That may not sound like much, but it's enough to make him a little interesting in deeper AL-only leagues.
Mon Apr 6 201515:21Soto added to Chicago's 40-man roster Sunday
Soto was added to Chicago's 40-man roster Sunday, MLB.com reports.
Soto had already one the primary backup job to Tyler Flowers, so this move was simply procedural. Barring an extended absence by Flowers, Soto's fantasy value is greatly limited in most formats.
Tue Mar 31 201519:07Soto has made Chicago's Opening Day roster
Soto has made Chicago's Opening Day roster, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports.
He will serve as Tyler Flowers' backup, and for now he will only have value in deeper two-catcher formats. However, Flowers is one of the weaker starting catchers in the big leagues, so there are certainly worst scenarios to be the backup backstop.

Soto's chances of breaking camp as the White Sox's No. 2 catcher increased Wednesday when the team optioned Rob Brantly to Triple-A.
The White Sox began camp with a crowded field for the backup catcher battle, and Soto and George Kottaras are the last two guys standing. Kottaras might have the defensive edge, but Soto has had the far superior spring at the plate (.933 OPS, 4:6 K:BB). A winner should be named sometime in the next week.
Fri Mar 20 201508:16Soto 1-3 with home run in White Sox's win over Reds on Thursday
Soto went 1-for-3 with a home run in the White Sox's win over the Reds on Thursday.
The home run was Soto's first of the spring, and he is now hitting .316 through 19 at-bats. Soto may not be the most defensively talented catcher in camp, but he is offering some of the best offensive upside at the moment and the team's pitchers appear to enjoy him as their battery mate. With only a few weeks left to go in spring training, Soto would appear the favorite for the No. 2 catcher slot.

Manager Robin Ventura has suggested that the White Sox's pitching staff has enjoyed throwing to Soto thus far, the team's official site reports.
Soto is currently in camp on a minor league deal, but there should be nothing stopping him from making the major league roster. Adrian Nieto, who was last year's No. 2 catcher, is likely due for at least a partial season at Triple-A Charlotte, so Soto, as well as George Kottaras, and Rob Brantly are in the running for the role.
Thu Jan 22 201515:31Geovany Soto: Minor League Deal With White Sox
Soto signed a minor league contract with the White Sox on Thursday that includes an invite to spring training, Bruce Levine of 670thescore.com reports.
A knee injury, suffered late in spring training, cost Soto the entire first half of the 2014 season, and he also missed significant time in the second half with groin, back and thumb issues. When on the field, Soto was largely unproductive, slashing .250/.302/.363 with one home run in 24 games between Texas and Oakland. It seems somewhat difficult to imagine Soto could bump Tyler Flowers from the starting job even with a hot spring, but he will get a chance to compete with the likes of Rob Brantley, Adrian Nieto and George Kottaras for the backup job.
Tue Sep 30 201421:08Geovany Soto: Leaves Tuesday With Thumb Injury
Soto left Tuesday's AL Wild Card game with a left thumb injury, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Soto got the starting nod over Derek Norris, with manager Bud Black wanting to control the speedy Royals on the basepaths, but Norris was forced into action in the bottom of the third inning. Stephen Vogt is the only other possible catching option on the team's Wild Card roster, but he hasn't manned the backstop since July 7.
Tue Sep 16 201419:01Soto (back) available to play Tuesday against Rangers
Soto (back) is available to play Tuesday against the Rangers, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
While not in the lineup, Soto will be available off the bench Tuesday, with his back spasms having subsided in recent days. Derek Norris remains the primary option for Oakland but Soto should see at least occasional starts over the remainder of the regular season.

Soto (back) was reportedly feeling much better Sunday and was available in the case of an emergency, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
This is pretty important for the A's, insomuch as Derek Norris has had to shoulder nearly all the catching duties lately and seems to be wearing down. Look for Soto to get back behind the plate in short order to give Norris some rest.
Sat Sep 13 201419:43Soto (back) won't likely be available to catch until Tuesday
Soto (back) won't likely be available to catch until Tuesday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Soto left Friday's game with back spasms, and it appears the injury will cost him the remainder of the weekend's series against the Mariners. Derek Norris is taking the catching duties Saturday, and either Norris or Bryan Anderson will likely start behind the plate Sunday.
Sat Sep 13 201400:15Soto left Friday's game with back spasms
Soto left Friday's game with back spasms
For now, Soto is considered day-to-day. Derek Norris may pick up extra playing time behind the plate with John Jaso still recovering from a concussion.
Sun Aug 24 201415:37Geovany Soto: Heading To Athletics Via Trade
Soto was traded to the Athletics on Sunday, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports.
Eyebrows were raised after the Rangers scratched Soto from Sunday's game due to a non-medical issue, and now it appears there's a good explanation behind the decision. Soto will join an Athletics squad that already has ample catching depth with John Jaso, Derek Norris and Stephen Vogt, but none of those options are as defensively sound as Soto. With his new squad, Soto only figures to see a couple starts a week, and will probably hit too low in the lineup to yield a useful RBI or run count.
