Wed Aug 1414:01Ryan McMahon Sitting Out In Series Finale
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Aaron Schunk will make the start at the hot corner and will bat ninth against Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery. McMahon will get a day of rest with Arizona throwing a southpaw after going hitless in eight at-bats with four strikeouts in the first two games of the series in the desert. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger was named to his first All-Star squad this year, but he's struggled since the Midsummer Classic and has gone 4-for-38 (.105) with two doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and 18 strikeouts in 11 games. The rookie Schunk has gone 7-for-41 (.171) in his first 20 big-league games and is still searching for his first home run.

Sat Jul 2716:16Charlie Blackmon, Ryan McMahon Out Of Rockies' Lineup Saturday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon and third baseman Ryan McMahon will head to the bench Saturday afternoon against the San Francisco Giants. The usual catcher, Elias Diaz, will DH and bat fifth, while rookie Aaron Schunk gets a start at third base and will bat ninth. The Rockies and Giants play two games today, so expect both Blackmon and McMahon to be in the lineup for the nightcap, unless they are traded. Blackmon is hitting .256 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, five stolen bases and 42 runs scored in 2024. McMahon is hitting .267 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, three stolen bases and 50 runs scored.

Fri Jul 2615:52Rockies Telling Teams Ryan McMahon Won't Be Traded
The Colorado Rockies have told MLB teams that All-Star third baseman Ryan McMahon won't be moved at this year's trade deadline, according to a source. McMahon made the All-Star squad for the first time in his eight-year career in 2024 and is currently hitting .270/.355/.447 with a career-best .802 OPS, 15 home runs, 47 RBI and 50 runs scored in 99 games for the last-place Rockies. His trade value will probably never be higher, and he's also under contract in Colorado through the 2028 season. Apparently the Rockies want to build around the 29-year-old left-handed-hitting infielder for years to come. McMahon resides in one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball in Coors Field, so staying in Colorado is probably best for his fantasy value for the rest of the 2024 campaign and beyond.

Wed Jul 2414:14Ryan McMahon Returns For Rockies
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon (finger) is back at third base and is hitting cleanup for the Rockies in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox and right-hander Nick Pivetta. McMahon will return to action after missing Tuesday's contest due to a jammed finger that he suffered in Monday's season opener. Fantasy managers will want to get the 29-year-old left-handed swinger back in their starting lineups at Coors Field. The first-time All-Star heads into Wednesday's contest hitting .267/.389/.333 with four doubles, three RBI, 11 walks, 18 strikeouts and five runs scored in 17 games so far in the month of July. McMahon has been an on-base machine but hasn't gone deep since June 22. Still, he's on pace to set a new career-high in long balls if he can stay healthy the rest of the way.

Tue Jul 2318:12Ryan McMahon Remains Out On Tuesday
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon (finger) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The lefty slugger will miss his second straight game after jamming his finger over the weekend. The assumption is that this is a minor injury and McMahon should be considered as day-to-day. Aaron Schunk will get another start at the hot corner and bat ninth versus right-hander Cooper Criswell. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

Mon Jul 2218:55Ryan McMahon Sitting Out On Monday
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox. McMahon was a late addition to Sunday's contest and he jammed his finger during that game. As a result, McMahon will take a seat with what is believed to be a minor finger issue. Aaron Schunk will get the nod at third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Tanner Houck. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with McMahon taking the night off.

Fri Jul 1212:25Rockies Not Motivated To Move Ryan McMahon
The Colorado Rockies will sell at this year's trade deadline, and it appears the players most likely to be traded are catcher Elias Diaz and starting pitchers Austin Gomber and Cal Quantrill. A lot of teams have shown interest in third baseman Ryan McMahon, who is signed through 2027, but the Rockies are not motivated to move him. They are open to trading any of their relief pitchers as well. Colorado is currently 33-61, which places them 22 games back in the National League West and 15 games back of the third and final wild-card spot in the NL. It makes sense as to why the Rockies would be hesitant to part ways with McMahon. The 29-year-old former second-rounder in 2013 is an All-Star for the first time in his career in 2024 and is currently batting .272/.349/.450 with 14 homers, 45 RBI and 48 runs scored in 92 games.

Mon Jun 316:25Ryan McMahon Resting Against A Lefty
With Cincinnati Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott taking the mound against the hosting Colorado Rockies on Monday night, second baseman Ryan McMahon will get the day off for Colorado. It's just the second time all season that McMahon won't be in the starting lineup for the Rockies. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter is slashing a solid .284/.371/.470 with an .841 OPS, 10 home runs, 34 RBI and 29 runs scored in 215 at-bats and 58 games so far in 2024. He's actually been better against southpaws, going 23-for-68 (.338) with four of his 10 home runs against them. McMahon could use a breather, though, as he's hitting just .191 (8-for-42) with three homers and nine RBI in the last two weeks. Alan Trejo is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth for the Rockies on Monday against Abbott. Trejo has only four hits in 37 at-bats this year and should be avoided for DFS play.

Sun May 1210:26Ryan McMahon Collects Four Hits Saturday
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Rangers. While all four hits were singles, the 29-year-old is having a fine season so far, slashing .303/.391/.462 with five home runs, 21 RBI, and 16 runs scored. The former second-round MLB draft pick has a strong 14.1% Barrel% and is walking at a good rate (12.9%). A .419 BABIP is unsustainable and suggests his batting average will see a decline, but a solid season like he's seen the prior three years with 20-plus home runs and a .250-.260 range for batting average looks likely again.

Fri May 322:06Ryan McMahon Blasts Solo Shot On Friday Night
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-5 and hit a solo shot in the Rockies' 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. The solo shot was McMahon's fifth homer of the season, and he's now hitting for a .920 OPS on the season. This would be the best mark of the lefty's career. Fantasy managers weary of starting McMahon on the road should note that the 29-year-old is hitting for a higher OPS on the road (.956) than he is at Coors Field (.878). That may be put to the test on Saturday, though, as McMahon gets a matchup against dominant Pirates rookie Jared Jones.

Fri Apr 1216:53Ryan McMahon Batting Second On Friday
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon, a player who has been swinging a hot bat to begin the season, will be batting in the two-hole as they begin a three-game series in Toronto against the Blue Jays. McMahon boasts an impressive .383/.464.553 stat line with two home runs and nine RBI. Usually batting third, fourth, or fifth when facing a right-handed pitcher, McMahon will move up in the lineup tonight. However, he faces a difficult matchup as he takes on Toronto ace Kevin Gausman. Gausman's two previous starts have looked very different as he shut down the Rays but got chased out of the game by the Yankees. McMahon may be a sneaky play tonight in DFS, as many may choose to overlook him simply due to the matchup.

Fri Apr 521:42Ryan McMahon Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam In Home Opener
Colorado Rockies third basemanRyan McMahonhit a walk-off grand slam against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, leading the Rockies to a 10-6 victory in their home opener. McMahon had a considerable day overall, going 3-5 with a double and a single, in addition to hitting the game-winning grand slam. The 29-year-old has been one of the few bright spots for the Rockies this season, now hitting .414 (12-for-29) with a 1.057 OPS over eight games. The lefty slugger has recorded a hit in seven of the Rockies' eight games this season, marking an improvement from past seasons when he was generally a .240 hitter. McMahon will look to continue his hot streak with his next five games being played at Coors Field.

Wed Mar 609:53Ryan McMahon Enjoying A Strong Start To Spring
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon has been off to a nice start in the Cactus League with a .429 batting average to go along with four runs, one homer and two RBI. McMahon has been one of the few staples for the Rockies over the past few seasons and has hit a minimum of 20 homers, while playing 150 or more games during the past three seasons. Playing half of his games at Coors Field helps as his average is much higher there than on the road, but the power numbers have translated outside of the Rocky Mountains. McMahon isn't the sexiest name, but he's consistent and makes for a safe late-round option in upcoming drafts.

Sat Sep 30 202318:42Ryan McMahon To Sit Out On Saturday
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The 28-year-old will get a breather here, so his absence doesn't appear to be injured related. Alan Trejo will cover third base and bat eighth versus right-hander Emilio Pagan on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with McMahon on the bench.

Wed Sep 20 202314:34Ryan McMahon Back In The Starting Lineup Wednesday
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon is back in the club's starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's contest against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Seth Lugo. The 28-year-old didn't start Tuesday night's 2-0 shutout loss to the Friars but will return to hit fifth and man third base in Wednesday afternoon's series finale. For the season, McMahon has hit .244 with 23 home runs, five stolen bases, and a .770 OPS across 144 games, the fourth straight full season in which he has reached the 20-homer plateau. He will take on a pitcher enjoying a nice season as Lugo has worked to a solid 3.83 ERA in 24 starts while walking just 5.7% of the hitters he has faced.

Sat Aug 19 202311:09Ryan McMahon Goes Yard Again In Rout
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored in Friday's 14-1 rout of the Chicago White Sox. The 28-year-old crushed a fourth-inning three-run blast to make it a 9-1 ballgame and get the blowout fully underway. McMahon has now homered in back-to-back contests to recover from a brutal 2-for-32 swoon in the previous nine outings. The defensive-minded infielder remains on pace for his best season in slugging, slashing .252/.337/.470 with 21 four-baggers, 65 RBI, and five stolen bases across 490 plate appearances.

Fri Jun 16 202318:22Ryan McMahon Resting On Friday
Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This appears to be nothing more than a routine rest day for the left-handed slugger. He's slashing .271/.352/.494 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI in 67 games this season. Coco Montes will cover second base and bat eighth versus left-hander Jared Shuster on Friday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly with McMahon on the sideline.

Thu Jun 15 202300:17Ryan McMahon Delivers Two Hits Wednesday
Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon went 2-for-3 at the plate and added an RBI despite his team losing to Boston by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday. He temporarily put the Rockies in the lead during the sixth inning with an RBI double off starter Garrett Whitlock. However, Colorado's bullpen fell apart and they gave up the lead. Despite the Rockies' struggles, McMahon is having a solid season, carrying a .267 batting average, and he has smacked 10 homers while driving in 38 runs in 247 trips to the plate this season.

Sun May 28 202309:40Ryan McMahon Finding Power Stroke, Goes Deep Again
Colorado Rockies third baseman/second baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer to help the team win a back-and-forth shootout on Saturday versus the New York Mets 10-7. The 28-year-old snapped an ice-cold 27-game homer-less skid in Friday's contest and has now gone yard in consecutive outings. McMahon has been virtually unplayable in fantasy away from Coors Field, hitting a paltry .178 (16-for-90) with just two bombs and seven RBI on the road. At home, however, the defensive-minded infielder is hitting a far more respectable .275 (25-for-91) with four blasts and 16 RBI. Fire McMahon up with confidence when he's playing at home, but it still doesn't leave him as much more than a borderline hold in shallow leagues being such a weak play half of the time.

Tue Apr 25 202314:27Ryan McMahon Returns To Tuesday's Lineup
Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon (illness) is back in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Peyton Battenfield. McMahon is back at third base and is hitting cleanup for the Rockies. The 28-year-old was scratched from the lineup on Monday due to an illness, but he's feeling better and will play on Tuesday. Get him back into your starting lineups. McMahon is hitting just .238 (19-for-80) in the early going in 23 games, but he does have six doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI, a stolen base and 10 runs scored through 90 plate appearances this year. He's gone 10-for-39 (.256) with three doubles, a long ball and four RBI in his last 11 contests.
