Fri Aug 1618:22Nick Sogard Returning To The Lineup
Boston Red Sox infielder Nick Sogard (calf) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Sogard was pulled from Wednesday's game due to calf soreness and sat out of Thursday's contest as a result. He'll cover second base and bat seventh versus right-hander Corbin Burnes. Sogard is slashing .250/.311/.275 with six RBI and two stolen bases in 11 games with the Red Sox. He doesn't offer much power at the plate and has a tough matchup against Burnes here. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a streaming option on Friday.

Wed Aug 1421:48Nick Sogard Dealing With Tight Calf
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora says second baseman Nick Sogard (calf) fouled a ball off his calf and was tightening up. He was having trouble moving, which is why the club decided to take him out in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game against the visiting Texas Rangers at Fenway Park. The 26-year-old switch-hitter has gone 10-for-40 (.250) with six RBI and two stolen bases as a part-time player for the Red Sox this year. Fantasy managers can label Sogard day-to-day ahead of Thursday's series opener against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. If he's unavailable for action this weekend, David Hamilton and Romy Gonzalez would likely split at-bats in a platoon at second base for Boston.
