Mon Sep 212:26Coby Mayo, Eloy Jimenez Sitting Against White Sox
Baltimore Orioles rookie third baseman Coby Mayo and outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez will both start Monday's game on the bench against the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards. Emmanuel Rivera will get the start at third base and will bat ninth, while Austin Slater will start in right field and bat seventh against White Sox right-hander Chris Flexen. Anthony Santander is the designated hitter and is batting cleanup. Mayo, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, got the call-up on Sunday when rosters expanded and went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a strikeout in just his eighth big-league game. The 22-year-old has only two hits and 11 strikeouts in his first 23 major-league plate appearances in Baltimore, but he figures to see the majority of playing time at the hot corner for the O's with both Ramon Urias (ankle) and ... Sun Sep 114:12Coby Mayo Gets Starting Nod On Sunday
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo rejoined the major league roster this weekend and will get the starting nod at the hot corner on Sunday afternoon. He will bat in the six-hole. Mayo got a brief stint in the major leagues earlier in August and held a disappointing .059/.200/.059 line across a seven-game stint. However, in Triple-A, the budding star posted an excellent .293/.369/.574 slash line with 22 home runs, 23 doubles, and 67 RBI across an 87-game sample size. Fantasy managers should expect the No.9 ranked prospect in baseball to continue to split time at the hot corner with Ramon Urias during the stretch run. DFS players should consider the power-hitting infielder this afternoon as he faces Colorado left-hander Ty Blach at the hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Sat Aug 3115:50Coby Mayo Headed To Baltimore
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo is set to rejoin the major league roster when the rosters expand, according to Matt Weyrich of the Baltimore Sun. The budding star got a brief taste of the major leagues earlier this summer but struggled as he went 1-for-17 across his first seven major league games. However, at Triple-A this season, the former fourth-round pick posted an incredible .293/.369/.574 slash line with 22 home runs, 23 doubles, and 67 RBI. Even though Mayo struggled through his first stint in the big leagues, fantasy managers should look to add the No.9 prospect in the sport, according to MLB.com, where he is available. He has high power potential and could still find an everyday role in the Baltimore lineup if he settles in at the plate.

Thu Aug 2210:00Coby Mayo Blasts Homer At Triple-A Norfolk
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo hit his 21st Triple-A homer of the season on Wednesday night for Norfolk. The stud prospect has torn up Triple-A this season but did not do much in his first stint in the major leagues. The 22-year-old was 1-for-17 after his call-up to Baltimore. That being said, he has pretty much mastered Triple-A and could get another shot before the season is over. Much like Jackson Holliday, his teammate who also struggled in his first MLB shot, Mayo is worth hanging onto this season in case he is promoted once again. Sometimes a bit of the pressure is removed in the second go-around in the majors for top prospects and that could be the case for Mayo. The talent is clearly there.

Thu Aug 1514:16Orioles Option Coby Mayo To Triple-A
The Baltimore Orioles optioned rookie infielder Coby Mayo to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday and recalled infielder Livan Soto from Norfolk in a corresponding move. Mayo finally recorded his first MLB hit in his seventh game on Wednesday night at Camden Yards against the Washington Nationals, but for now he'll head back to the farm to continue his development. The team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, had an opportunity for regular playing time at third base in Baltimore with Jordan Westburg out with a fractured hand, but he wasn't able to take advantage, going 1-for-17 (.059) with three walks and 10 strikeouts in his first 20 big-league plate appearances. The 22-year-old still has a lot of long-term fantasy upside and should return when rosters expand in September, but for now, veteran Ramon Urias will handle most of the starts at third for the O's.

Tue Aug 1318:42Coby Mayo Struggling In Big Leagues, Losing Playing Time
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo has yet to tally his first major league hit since being promoted to Baltimore on August 2. During this span, Mayo has made only five starts as Ramon Urias has begun to see the majority of starts at the hot corner. However, at Triple-A this season, Mayo showcased his elite potential by posting a stellar .301/.375/.586 line with 20 long balls and 61 RBI. Given his current production at the majors and that he has begun to ride pine quite often, he could be sent back to Norfolk to get himself back on track. This minor slump does open the door for a potential buy-low window in dynasty formats as well. Redraft managers should continue to monitor the Baltimore lineup closely going forward.

Fri Aug 916:07Coby Mayo Sitting Again On Friday
Baltimore Orioles infield prospect Coby Mayo is out of the team's starting lineup yet again for Friday's series opener on the road in Tampa against the division-rival Rays. Mayo, the team's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was expected to see more playing time than this when Jordan Westburg went down with a fractured hand. The 22-year-old has gone hitless in 13 at-bats with eight strikeouts in his first five games, though, and has been on the bench in three of the last four contests as a result. Veteran Ramon Urias will make another start at the hot corner and hit eighth on Friday against Rays right-hander Zack Littell. Mayo will surely get more chances with both Westburg and Jorge Mateo (elbow) on the IL, but he's going to have to show some life against big-league pitching if he wants to gain a playing-time advantage over the light-hitting Urias.
