He was cleared to make room for the team's new acquisitions on the 40-man roster. Uviedo had a 3.22 ERA in 16 appearances with Double-A Altoona before coming over from the Pirates last month, but tallied a 6.46 ERA in eight games (five starts) with Double-A New Hampshire. |

Uviedo, 23, is still working on climbing past the Double-A level, and has definitely made some strides this season. But he's probably destined for a role in middle relief if he ever reaches the major leagues. The righty had a 3.22 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP through 22 1/3 innings for Double-A Altoona. |
