Wed Jan 22 201418:45Orioles claiming issue with Colvin's physical
A source tells ESPN's Jerry Crasnick that the Orioles are claiming there are issues with Tyler Colvin's physical.
It explains why no deal has been announced after Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reported the two sides had an agreement in place on January 15. This is nothing new for the Orioles, a team notorious for it scrutiny of physicals, as they voided a deal with reliever Grant Balfour earlier this offseason for a similar reason. Crasnick reported another source as saying the outfielder has been hitting, throwing and working out five days a week in Arizona without issue. Stay tuned.

The Orioles and Tyler Colvin have agreed to a deal, a source tells Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun.
The deal is a major league deal and is pending a physical. The outfielder/first baseman enjoyed a nice 2012 season in which he hit .290/.327/.531 with 18 home runs in 420 at-bats, but he struggled to be effective at the major league level last season. He'll serve as bench depth for the Orioles.

Wed Jul 3 201322:14Colvin, Dickerson to share time in CF
Rockies manager Walt Weiss said Wednesday that Tyler Colvin and Corey Dickerson will share time in center field while Dexter Fowler is out.
Colvin entered play Wednesday in a 2-for-32 (.063) slump since June 17, but Weiss thinks he's "taken some good swings lately." Dickerson has hit a whole lot, either, sporting a .235/.316/.471 in seven contests since his call-up. Both players hit left-handed, so it won't be a strict platoon but rather a "mix and match" situation, according to Weiss.

Fri Mar 29 201320:07Rockies option Tyler Colvin to Triple-A
Rockies optioned OF Tyler Colvin to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Colvin had a breakout season for the Rockies in 2012, hitting .290/.327/.531 with 18 homers, 72 RBI and seven stolen bases. He struggled to get things going in the spring though, hitting just .167/.216/.208 with 14 strikeouts in 48 at-bats. While this move comes as a major surprise, with the health of Todd Helton, Michael Cuddyer and Carlos Gonzalez always in question, Colvin should see plenty of at-bats in Colorado during the season. He could also attract interest on the trade market.

Colvin's solo shot off R.A. Dickey in the top of the fifth inning was his first home run since July 6, snapping a streak of 104 homerless at-bats. The 26-year-old figures to see most of the playing time at first base with Michael Cuddyer (oblique) sidelined, so he could have some sneaky value in mixed fantasy leagues down the stretch.
