Janssen will head to the Nationals' spring training facility in the near future to continue rehabbing his shoulder, the Washington Post reports.
He's dealing with some rotator cuff tendinitis, and as yet there's no firm timetable for Janssen to come off the DL and make his Nats debut.

Janssen (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington reports.
Janssen continues to deal with shoulder tendinitis, which will cost him through April 11 at the bare minimum. With Janssen on the shelf, Xavier Cedeno was able to lock down one of the final bullpen spots on the Opening Day roster.

Janssen's (shoulder) MRI revealed soreness and he will need rest, James Wagner of The Washington Post reports.
The Nationals may have to begin the season without Janssen in their bullpen, leaving spots for both Aaron Barrett and Blake Treinen in the early weeks of the season. Janssen's injury also provides more leash for closer Drew Storen, as the Nats' top potential replacement for the ninth-inning role will be unavailable.
Sun Mar 29 201516:38Janssen will undergo MRI on right shoulder Monday
Janssen will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Monday, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington reports.
Manager Matt Williams indicated Janssen had trouble getting loose Sunday, so the MRI is likely precautionary to ensure there's nothing structurally wrong. He's expected to serve in a late-inning role with the Nationals when healthy, and could be in line for saves if Drew Storen were to get injured.

Janssen has a 4.50 ERA and 5:2 K:BB ratio through six innings this spring.
His role in the Nationals' bullpen isn't entirely clear yet, but given Janssen's late inning experience he will likely open the season as part of Drew Storen's set-up crew, and he could be first in line to get a crack at the closer job if Storen struggles. His lack of big strikeout numbers severely limits his fantasy value if he isn't getting saves, however.

Janssen signed a one-year contract with the Nationals on Wednesday that includes a mutual option for 2016, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
Although the veteran racked up 81 saves for the Blue Jays over the last three seasons, his average fastball velocity was below 90 for the first time in his career in 2014, leading to an increased ERA and WHIP with a lower strikeout rate. He could work his way into ninth inning duty in Washington if Drew Storen struggles, but most likely Janssen heads into spring training as part of the Nationals' set-up crew.

Janssen was battered again Friday night, allowing three runs on five hits while recording just one out to blow his 5th save of the season and take the loss in a 9-8 extra-innings loss to Boston.
Janssen has endured an absolutely miserable second half with a combination of poor location and bad luck, probably made worse by a balky shoulder he has pitched through all season. His ERA has ballooned to 4.38, and there is a good chance young Aaron Sanchez will see many of the save opportunities over the remainder of the year.

Janssen pitched a scoreless 10th inning to record his 21st save of the season in Thursday's 1-0 win at Tampa Bay.
Rookie Aaron Sanchez, who had converted two of Toronto's previous three save chances, was not available after pitching consecutive games, so the team turned to Janssen on Thursday. He did allow a one-out walk, but retired two straight batters to nail down the save. While Janssen is being phased out of the closer role in favor of Sanchez, it appears the veteran righty could still get save opportunities moving forward, especially if Sanchez is unavailable. In any event, it might be prudent to hang on to Janssen until this situation gains a little more clarity.
Thu Sep 4 201416:59Casey Janssen: On the Outs as Closer?
With Aaron Sanchez picking up two of the last three save chances for the Blue Jays, it appears Janssen is being phased out of the closer's role, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
Though manager John Gibbons said that Janssen would be his top ninth-inning option the next two days while Sanchez rests due to his recent high workload, the veteran closer openly acknowledged that he understands Gibbons' willingness to "ride the hot hand." After getting off to a great start upon returning from the DL in May, Janssen has seen his effectiveness wane since the All-Star break, supplying a 7.47 ERA over his 15.2 innings since that time. Meanwhile, Sanchez, a top starting pitching prospect who joined the Toronto bullpen in an effort by the organization to manage his innings, has emerged as the club's top reliever, and should continue to see further work in save situations. If he's not gathering saves, Janssen and his anemic strikeout rate present little utility as a middle reliever, where ratios drive most of the fantasy value.

Janssen will be unavailable out of the bullpen Monday against the Red Sox, Blue Jays radio broadcaster Mike Wilner reports.
Janssen blew a save Saturday and nearly gave the game away Sunday before he was bailed out by Brett Cecil, but manager John Gibbons reiterated his support for the closer Monday. Instead, Janssen will just receive a rest due to his high workload of late, opening the door for either Cecil, Aaron Loup or Aaron Sanchez to pick up a save chance if one should materialize.

Janssen took his third blown save of the season, allowing three runs on four hits while retiring just two hitters in the Jays' 5-4 loss to Detroit on Friday night.
Uhe usually very reliable Janssen uses pinpoint control (he has walked just three all season) rather than overwhelming stuff to take out opposing hitters. He was throwing strikes again, but he wasn't locating them and the Tigers took advantage. He served up a lead-off double, then back-to-back home runs to relinquish a 4-2 lead before another double sent him to the showers. He's been a bit more vulnerable the past couple of weeks, but barring an undisclosed injury, he should still have plenty of job security.

Janssen pitched a scoreless ninth inning at Houston on Thursday to pick up his 18th save of the season.
Janssen allowed a two-out walk, but got Chris Carter to pop up to end the game. After hitting a rough patch in the second half of July, he's been untouched in two of his last three appearances.
Sun Jul 27 201416:40Janssen earns save as Blue Jays beat Yanks
Casey Janssen earned his 16th save of 2014 in the Blue Jays' 5-4 win over the Yankees on Sunday.
Janssen was called on to protect Toronto's one-run lead after Dioner Navarro hit a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the ninth inning. The right-hander did so effortlessly, retiring all three batters he faced -- one via strikeout. Janssen has a 2.73 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 16/2 K/BB ratio in 26 1/3 innings this season.

Casey Janssen (illness) will be available out of the Blue Jays' bullpen Sunday.

Sat Jul 19 201416:54Casey Janssen was unavailabe Sat.; illness
Casey Janssen was unavailable Saturday versus the Rangers due to an illness.
Janssen lost seven or more pounds due to this sickness. The Blue Jays' closer believes it was because of something he ate in the Dominican Republic during the All-Star break. Aaron Loup filled in for him Saturday and picked up the save.

Casey Janssen set down the Rays in order on Friday, securing his 14th save of the season.
Tasked with protecting a three-run advantage, Janssen made quick work of the heart of the Rays lineup, needing just 11 pitches to wrap the game up. Since returning from the disabled list, he has posted a stellar 1.29 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 13/1 K/BB ratio through his first 21 innings.

Tue Jun 10 201400:11Casey Janssen takes second blown save
Casey Janssen took a blown save after giving up two runs to the Twins in the ninth Monday, only to pick up a win when the Blue Jays scored in the bottom of the inning.
It was Janssen's second blown save, even though he entered with a 0.00 ERA in 11 2/3 innings. His first came when he allowed an unearned run versus the Royals on May 29. Obviously, Janssen's job remains very secure. The Jays don't have anyone challenging him anyway.

Thu Jun 5 201416:20Janssen records 10th save Thursday
Casey Janssen threw a one-pitch save Thursday against the Tigers.
Fantasy owners can't complain about that. Janssen entered the game with two on and two out in the bottom of the ninth and got Nick Castellanos to line out to left field to end it. He's now 10-for-10 in save chances this year and has yet to allow a run over his first 12 appearances.
