DH Victor Martinez was placed on the paternity list after Thursday's game and will miss the weekend series against Texas. Martinez departed with a flourish, as he hit a go-ahead two-run homer. Martinez flew back to Orlando to be with his wife, who is having their fourth child. "It's a blessing," Martinez said, while adding he would return "whenever my wife is feeling good." Martinez is batting .301 over the last 27 games.

1B Miguel Cabrera missed his second consecutive game on Thursday with a mild oblique strain. Cabrera was a late scratch from the lineup on Wednesday after feeling soreness in his left side. He's expected to miss at least the first game of the three-game weekend series against Texas. "Hopefully, it's very short-term," manager Brad Ausmus said. Cabrera missed nine games earlier this season with a right groin strain.

RF J.D. Martinez continued his torrid hitting since coming off the disabled list last Friday. He smashed his fifth homer in six games on Thursday and also walked three times in the 6-5 win over Baltimore. He's already tied for third on the team's home run list this season. He's also reached base 17-of-25 times. "He's as hot as you can be," designated hitter Victor Martinez said.

SS Tim Anderson went 3-for-4 on Thursday at Seattle, his fourth consecutive multi-hit game. He is 9-for-15 with a double, a triple, two homers and three RBIs in that span. Anderson also has a seven-game hitting streak.

RHP Jordan Zimmermann got touched for two more home runs on Thursday but still picked up the win. Zimmermann has allowed 10 homers over his last five starts. He lasted six innings while striking out a season high six batters in the 6-5 win over Baltimore. "He had a real good curveball today," manager Brad Ausmus said. "His slider came and went but that was the best curveball he's had all year."

SS Jean Segura extended his hitting streak to a career-high 17 games with a three-run homer. Segura owns the longest active streak in the majors.

CF Jarrod Dyson hit a home run and stole two bases Thursday. It marked the first time in his career Dyson homered and had two steals stolen in the same game, and he took over the AL lead with 12 steals. He scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on PH Guillermo Heredia's single.

LHP Drew Smyly, who hasn't pitched yet this season due to a strained left elbow, played catch Wednesday. "We've still got to build his arm strength up so he can build to a bullpen (session)," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. Smyly reported no pain. "I'm just trying to move forward every day," Smyly said.

3B Manny Machado was not in the lineup on Thursday due to a sore finger on his right hand. Machado had been the only Oriole to appear in every game this season. He's batting .224 with nine homers and 23 RBI. He's questionable to play on Friday. "His finger was pretty sore and has some swelling," manager Buck Showalter said. Machado made the last out in Wednesday's?game on a controversial check swing call by first base umpire C.B. Bucknor.

1B Chris Davis homered for the fifth time in five games on Thursday, blasting a two-run shot in his first at-bat. Davis hit three homers in the three-game series at Detroit. His ninth homer of the season tied Manny Machado for the team lead. He's also scored 23 runs, tying him for the team lead with Mark Trumbo.

LHP James Paxton, who has been on the disabled list since May 5 with a left forearm strain, threw a bullpen session Thursday afternoon of 25 fastballs. "Felt good, no pain at all," Paxton said. "Probably went at about 70 percent. Sunday we're going to crank it up." Manager Scott Servais said Paxton definitely will make one rehabilitation start before returning to the major leagues.

3B Todd Frazier continued to terrorize Seattle pitchers, going 2-for-4 with a double and home run Thursday. Frazier has hit safely in nine of 10 career games vs. the Mariners, batting .350 (14-for-40) with five homers and 12 RBIs.

RF Bryce Harper hit a homer in the series opener Tuesday, but Thursday?he struck out three times. He went 0-for-4 for the second day in a row, both losses. He's still hitting a robust .365.

1B Ryan Zimmerman was given the day off from starting, but he entered the game in the sixth. He went 1-for-2, picking up one of just six hits by the Nationals, a double in the seventh. He has a hit in 18 of his past 23 games. He moved ahead of Bryce Harper to lead Washington with a .376 batting average.

2B Daniel Murphy was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, his sixth dinger of the season and first since May 9. In his past 20 games, he is batting .320 (24-of-75) with four doubles, a triple, four homers and 17 RBIs.

RHP Tanner Roark took the loss in his first career start at PNC Park. He allowed seven runs on eight hits -- including two home runs -- over five-plus innings, with three strikeouts and four walks. One of his walks brought in run with the bases loaded. "I feel like my issue all year has been walks," Roark said. "The game is testing me right now. I just have to fight back and not give in, continue to work hard and keep doing my thing. I just feel like the walks were the main thing. Limit the walks and you'll be out there longer."

DH Matt Davidson hit his seventh homer of the season Thursday, a two-run shot in the seventh inning at Seattle. Davidson tied Jose Abreu for the team lead.

CF Leury Garcia was taken out of the Thursday game after being hit by a fifth-inning pitch from Seattle RHP Sam Gaviglio. Garcia sustained a bruised right elbow and was listed as day-to-day.

1B Yonder Alonso (sore left knee) did not play Thursday against Boston, and he will miss at least one more game. He was injured Wednesday during an at-bat at Seattle. Alonso had an MRI exam Thursday morning that revealed no structural damage, according to A's manager Bob Melvin. "So we'll get him in the cage (Friday) and see how he feels," Melvin said. "It was a relief to him obviously, to us as well." Alonso has a career-high 12 home runs and is tied with LF Khris Davis for the team lead. Alonso leads the A's with 29 RBIs.

LHP Sean Doolittle (strained left shoulder) played long toss Thursday for the third straight day and will throw off flat ground Sunday. "If that goes well, then we're talking about a bullpen (session) several days later," A's manager Bob Melvin said. Doolittle has been on the disabled list since April 30.
