MINNEAPOLIS -- Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins with a right clavicle contusion a half-inning after taking a bad hop off his chest at first base.In the fourth inning, Cabrera fielded a ground ball off the bat of Robbie Grossman that took a high hop as the Detroit slugger got in front of the ball. OF Randal Grichuk was activated from the disabled list prior to opening a three-game series against the Cubs.Grichuk was activated after being out since July 10 with a lower back injury. He appeared in a rehab game with Double-A Springfield on Wednesday and was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer.

LHP Boone Logan was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday with a left lat muscle strain and will be out indefinitely.Logan suffered the injury when he threw ball four to Brandon Belt in the eighth inning on Wednesday afternoon in the San Francisco Giants' 5-4 win. It sent the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Logan to his knee after he released the ball. "When the ball came out of my hand I felt it pull in the upper lat area," Logan said after the game. Logan, who is beginning his seventh career stint on the major league DL, is 1-0 with a 4.71 ERA over 21 innings in 38 appearances this season. Logan underwent imaging and an examination on Thursday, confirming a high grade latissimus strain.

LHP Tyler Olson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Columbus on Friday. Olson, 27, has spent the entire season with Columbus, posting a 2-0 record with two saves and a 3.32 ERA over 40 2/3 innings in 33 relief appearances.Olson was claimed off waivers by Cleveland last July. He appeared in 12 major league games with the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees during the 2015-2016 campaigns, going 1-1 with a 5.63 ERA over 16 innings.

3B Kris Bryant was not in the lineup with a finger injury for Friday afternoon's game and could miss this weekend's series against the St. Louis Cardinals.Bryant sprained his little finger on his left hand in a headfirst slide in the first inning of Chicago's 8-2 victory against the Braves at Atlanta on Wednesday.X-rays were negative but the 25-year-old Bryant is still experiencing soreness while gripping the bat. "We're going to do this as a day-by-day thing," manager Joe Maddon told reporters before Friday's game. "I really don't know. If I had to guess, probably not tomorrow too and possibly on Sunday. But I really don't know. Bryant is hitting .275 with 19 home runs and 40 RBIs in 88 games this season. RHP Yovani Gallardo will return to the rotation and start the series finale Sunday against the Yankees, manager Scott Servais said. Gallardo went 3-7 with a 6.30 ERA in 14 starts before being banished to the bullpen a month ago. In four relief appearances, he went 1-0 with a 0.79 ERA and one save.
