Scherzer threw a complete game against the Giants in May in San Francisco as he gave up five hits and one earned run in nine innings as the Nationals swept the three-game series. The St. Louis native is 3-4 with a 4.76 ERA in seven career starts against the Giants. Four members of the Giants have homers against Scherzer: Brandon Crawford (2-for-9 overall), former Washington center fielder Denard Span (6-for-26), Pablo Sandoval (2-for-8) and Hunter Pence (2-for-8).

RHP Stephen Strasburg (right elbow nerve impingement) will make a rehab start Monday for Class-A Potomac of the Carolina League in Woodbridge, Va., he told reporters Saturday. Strasburg (10-3, 3.25 ERA) has been on the disabled list since July 27. Strasburg threw 57 pitches in a simulated game Wednesday and said the elbow "feels really good." Nationals pitching coach Mike Maddux said Saturday that Strasburg is slated for five innings or 75 pitches Monday. The San Diego native has been sidelined since pitched two scoreless innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 23. He went on the disabled list four days later.
