RHP Tanner Roark could start Thursday's deciding Game 5 against the Cubs, according to manager Dusty Baker. Roark was scheduled to pitch Wednesday in Game 4, but Baker made the decision to start RHP Stephen Strasburg instead. Roark is 4-2 in seven career starts against the Cubs and is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA against Chicago this season.

SS Trea Turner snapped a 0-for-13 drought from the plate when he doubled off Cubs starter Jake Arrieta in the third inning on Wednesday. Turner, who was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk, had been hitless in the first three games of the NLDS. The double marked his first career postseason extra-base hit.

RHP Stephen Strasburg struck out 12 batters in seven innings to set a Nationals postseason record for a game. Strasburg, who held the Cubs without a hit for 5 2/3 innings in Game 1 of the NLDS, now has 22 strikeouts in the series and 24 postseason strikeouts in his career, both of which are franchise records. His 12 strikeouts Wednesday were the most in the postseason since the New York Mets' Jacob DeGrom struck out 13 in Game 1 of last year's NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

CHICAGO -- The Washington Nationals will now start right-hander Stephen Strasburg in Wednesday afternoon's Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs. Nationals manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday night that Strasburg was too ill to start Wednesday's game before the dramatic reversal by the team.The Nationals made the move official a few hours before 3:08 p.m. CT starting time.Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told reporters Wednesday that Strasburg started to feel flu-like symptoms after starting Game 1, which continued the next couple of days. RHP Blake Treinen underwent successful surgery on his right middle finger. Dr. McPherson Beall removed a cyst along Treinen's finger on Friday in Portland, Ore. Treinen is expected to be fully recovered in six weeks and have no restrictions for spring training, according to the Athletics. Treinen, 29, was acquired from the Washington Nationals in a trade July 16 and ended up saving 13 games with the A's. He went 3-4 with a 2.13 ERA in 35 appearances with Oakland. His ERA was third-lowest in the American League among pitchers with more than 35 innings from July 17 through the end of the season.

RHP Jake Arrieta will start for the Cubs in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Nationals after the rainout. Arrieta hasn't pitched since Sept. 26 while recovering from a right hamstring injury that forced him to miss 2 1/2 weeks. Arrieta has thrown two recent bullpen sessions and said Monday that the hamstring injury will be a "non-issue." Arrieta dropped his only decision of the season to the Nationals and is 1-2 with a 5.48 ERA in nine career starts against them.

RHP Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to start a possible Game 5 of the NLDS on Thursday if the Nationals can win Game 4 Wednesday. Manager Dusty Baker mentioned Strasburg as a possible starter for Game 4, which was postponed by rain on Tuesday. But after Tuesday's game was called, Baker said Strasburg was "under the weather." Baker said several of his players and himself have been affected by a change in weather, air conditioning in the team hotel and mold in Chicago. Baker said he was uncertain if Strasburg could work out of the bullpen if needed on Wednesday.

DH Edwin Encarnacion (right ankle sprain) might be able to return for Game 5 of the Indians' American League Division Series against the New York Yankees on Wednesday night. Encarnacion sustained the injury in Game 2 and missed the next two games. "I think so," manager Terry Francona said Tuesday when asked if he believes Encarnacion will be healthy enough to play. The three-time All-Star went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the first two games of the series before departing with the injury.

PHOENIX -- Rookie Cody Bellinger homered and drove in two runs, Yu Darvish pitched five strong innings, and the Los Angeles Dodgers swept their way into the National League Championship Series with a 3-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 3 of the NL Division Series on Monday.Bellinger and Austin Barnes homered off Zack Greinke (0-1). Darvish (1-0) gave up one run and struck out seven in five-plus innings to send the Dodgers to the NLCS against the winner of the Chicago Cubs-Washington Nationals series. C Chris Iannetta earned an extra $250,000 by starting 70 games in the regular season after signing a $1.5 million free agent deal last winter. He earned $50,000 for each segment of five starts beginning with his 50th. Iannetta slashed .254/.354/.511 with 17 homers and 43 RBIs in 89 games.

1B Paul Goldschmidt homered in the second game of the NL Division Series, his only hit in 11 at-bats in the series. He finished the regular season in an 0-for-17 skid before going 2-for-5 with a homer in the wild-card victory over Colorado on Wednesday. "I just think he was maybe trying too hard," manager Torey Lovullo said. "The swings were good, just didn't have great results. He had some big home runs in some big moments, but you expect so much from Paul because he is the face of the Arizona Diamondbacks."

LF David Peralta was 1-for-13 with a walk in the NL Division Series, his hit a single with one out in the ninth inning of Game 3. "He's an exceptional hitter," manager Torey Lovullo said. "He plays with a ton of energy, and it wasn't a great series for the entire team offensively."

SS Ketel Marte was 1-for-4 with a bunt single while hitting second in the lineup when the Dodgers started RHP Yu Darvish. The switch-hitting Marte occupied the No. 2 spot against most right-handed starters since mid-September. "Left-handers happen to see (Darvish) a little bit better, so I wanted to balance the lineup out with some left-handed hitters," manager Torey Lovullo said. "Marte's been having a tremendous postseason." Marte was 7-of-17 in his first postseason.

RHP Fernando Rodney, who did not pitch in the NL Division Series, earned an extra $1.5 million in bonuses this season after signing a $2.75 million contract as a free agent last winter. Rodney was 5-4 with 39 saves and a 4.23 ERA in 61 regular-season appearances. He received an extra $250,000 apiece for reaching 40, 50 and 60 appearances, and $250,000 for 40 games finished. He received $500,000 for finishing at least 50 games.

RHP Zack Greinke gave up three runs on five hits, including two homers, before being knocked out of the game on Dodgers C Austin Barnes' homer leading off the sixth inning Monday in Game 3 of the NL Division Series. Greinke walked five and struck out four. He threw 29 pitches in the first inning and finished with 105. He got three swinging strikes. "(The Dodgers) are ready to hit, which is tough, but they're not chasing the pitch you want them to chase," Greinke said. Greinke had not walked more than five in a start since July 3, 2013, in Colorado, when he walked seven. "Fastball command was probably the worst thing," Greinke said. He made six starts for the Dodgers in the 2013-15 playoffs, and all were quality starts. He gave up as many as three runs only once.

RF Yasiel Puig walked twice in four plate appearances and finished the NL Division Series 5-for-11 with four RBIs. He had an 10-pitch at-bat off Arizona RHP Zack Greinke in the first inning, setting a tone for a patient attack. "Just the focus, the fight, and the understanding that to compete to try to win every single pitch, there is a huge value in that," manager Dave Roberts said. Because of his severe reverse splits, Puig hit fifth in the lineup against the two Arizona right-handed starters in the NLDS and eighth against LHP Robbie Ray. Puig hit .183 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 145 plate appearances against lefties and .288 with 26 homers and 64 RBIs in 425 plate appearances this season.

C Austin Barnes was 1-for-4 with the homer that knocked out Arizona RHP Zack Greinke to open the sixth inning Monday. "Austin has a great way of being selective, grinding at-bats," manager Dave Roberts said of starting Barnes ahead of C Yasmani Grandal, who was 5-for-11 with a homer off Greinke. Barnes was 4-for-8 with three RBIs while starting the final two games of the NL Division Series.

RHP Yu Darvish gave up only two hits and one run in five-plus innings, but he was removed after hitting Arizona PH Christian Walker in the helmet to open the sixth inning. He struck out seven and did not give up a walk. With the Chase Field roof open, "it's almost like Colorado," Darvish said. "For me, have to execute almost perfectly to make my off-speed pitches work. Overall, it went well." Darvish gave up one in 19 1/3 innings in his last three regular-season starts, two on the road.

RHP Dellin Betances made his third appearance of the AL Division Series and issued walks to Yan Gomes and Francisco Lindor, then was replaced. Betances threw eight of 12 pitches out of the strike zone before getting pulled. After the game, he said feels 100 percent but just got too "amped up".
