SS Didi Gregorius batted third in Game 4 on Monday and drew three walks. It was the first time he drew three walks. He was the third Yankees shortstop to bat third in a postseason game. Gil McDougald did it once in the 1957 World Series against the Milwaukee Braves, and Derek Jeter did it six times.

RF Aaron Judge collected his first hit of the AL Division Series with a two-run double to cap a four-run second inning in Game 4. He recorded the hit on a night when he struck out four times. Judge was 0-for-11 in the series before the double.

RHP Tommy Kahnle recorded a six-out save by getting five strikeouts Monday. He has retired all 15 hitters to face him in three postseason games, fanning six in five innings. He is the third pitcher to record at least five strikeouts while facing six hitters or fewer in the postseason. The other instances were St. Louis Cardinals RHP Todd Worrell in Game 5 of the 1985 World Series and Cleveland LHP Andrew Miller, who did it in the first two games of the ALCS last year against the Toronto Blue Jays.

RHP Luis Severino rebounded nicely from last week's ugly start in the wild-card game by allowing three runs on four hits in seven innings Monday vs. Cleveland. At 23 years, 231 days, he is the second-youngest Yankee to record at least nine strikeouts in a playoff game. Only LHP Dave Righetti was younger (22 years, 314 days) when he fanned 10 in Game 2 of the 1981 ALDS at Milwaukee. He also is the third Yankee 23 years old or younger to start an elimination game. Mel Stottlemyre (22 years, 337 days) started Game 7 of the 1964 World Series against St. Louis. Waite Hoyt (22 years, 34 days) started Game 8 of the 1921 World Series against the New York Giants.

OF Brandon Guyer will undergo left wrist surgery Wednesday in Scottsdale, Ariz., to repair the extensor tendon in his wrist, the Indians announced Monday. Guyer's rehab time will be determined once the procedure is completed. Guyer appeared in 70 games this season, batting .236 with two homers and 20 RBIs. He aggravated the wrist Sept. 16 and originally was thought to be out five to seven days.

C Gary Sanchez hit his second homer of the AL Division Series and batted fourth in Game 4 on Monday. He joined Yogi Berra, Elston Howard and Jorge Posada as the fourth Yankees catcher to bat fourth in a playoff game.

DH Michael Brantley started in place of Edwin Encarnacion (sprained right ankle) and batted sixth. He went 1-for-4, and his hit was the first by a designated hitter in the series. Before his seventh-inning single off RHP Luis Severino, designated hitters were 0-for-26.

3B Giovanny Urshela was charged with four errors in 121 chances while appearing in 72 games during the regular season. On Monday, he committed two of Cleveland's four errors in a 7-3 loss. Urshela misplayed a ground ball by 2B Starlin Castro when the ball deflected off his leg in the second inning. In the third, he made a high throw to 1B Carlos Santana, who had to come off the bag as Brett Gardner raced toward first base. "It's tough," C Roberto Perez said. "He's a good defender. In that situation, we can't do anything about it."

RHP Trevor Bauer made his second career postseason start on three days' rest, and it did not go well. He allowed four runs, all unearned, on four hits in 1 2/3 innings while struggling to locate his curveball at times. Bauer is 1-3 with a 3.27 ERA in seven postseason appearances (six starts). He lasted four innings on three days' rest when he took the loss in Game 5 of the 2016 World Series at Wrigley Field.

DH Edwin Encarnacion missed his second consecutive game Monday due to a sprained right ankle. Before the game, manager Terry Francona said the Indians were hoping to have him available as a pinch hitter. Encarnacion was injured in the first inning of Game 2 on Friday when his leg hit second base trying not to get doubled off.

OF Albert Almora Jr. tied Monday's game against the Washington Nationals with an RBI single in the seventh inning. Almora entered the game as a pinch-hitter, collected his first career postseason hit and RBI and snapped an 0-for-14 playoff skid with the single.

RHP Jake Arrieta will pitch for the first time since Sept. 26 on Tuesday when he attempts to close out the Washington Nationals in the National League Division Series. Arrieta missed 2 1/2 weeks late in the regular season with a right hamstring injury. Arrieta has thrown two bullpen sessions and said on Monday that the injury will be a non-issue.

1B Anthony Rizzo produced his third career game-winning postseason RBI with a bloop single in the eighth inning of Monday's 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals. Rizzo, who went 1-for-4 Monday, has hit safely in nine straight postseason games (13-for-33) -- a streak that is tied for the third-longest in franchise history.

2B Ben Zobrist delivered a double in the seventh inning to break up a no-hitter by Washington Nationals RHP Max Scherzer. Zobrist now has 16 career postseason doubles, which ranks third among active players.

LHP Jose Quintana took a no-decision in his first career postseason start despite allowing just two hits over 5 2/3 innings Monday against the Washington Nationals. Quintana struck out seven and walked one and became the fifth pitcher in franchise history to throw at least five innings without an earned run in their playoff debut.

RHP Tanner Roark will start for the Nationals on Tuesday in Game 4 when Washington will attempt to stave off elimination. Roark, who grew up in suburban Chicago, is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in his lone start against the Cubs this season. "It's pretty surreal to pitch in Wrigley and just the history and everything that they have here," said Roark, who is 4-2 in seven career starts against the Cubs. "It's very exciting and I'm anxious to get out there."

SS Trea Turner went 0-for-4 in Monday's 2-1 Game 3 loss and is now 0-for-12 to begin the National League Division Series. Turner has struggled in the leadoff spot for the Nationals after hitting .297 in 30 games since returning from the disabled list on Aug. 29.

1B Ryan Zimmerman drove in the Nationals' lone run on Monday with a sixth-inning RBI single. Zimmerman, who broke a 3-3 tie with a three-run homer in Washington's 6-3 come-from-behind victory in Game 2 of the NLDS, went 1-for-4 on Monday and has driven in four of the seven runs the Nationals have scored in the first three games of the series.

RF Mookie Betts was announced as the Red Sox's nominee for the 2017 Hank Aaron Awards on Monday. The 2016 American League MVP runner-up batted .264 with 24 home runs and 102 RBIs this season. Betts went 1-for-4 against the Astros in Game 4 of the ALDS. Over four games this postseason, Betts hit .313 (5-for-16) with two doubles, a walk, two runs scored and four strikeouts.

RHP Max Scherzer threw 6 1/3 innings of no-hit ball until Ben Zobrist broke it up with a double. Scherzer, who struck out seven and walked three, became the first pitcher to allow one hit or less over six innings in a postseason game since Detroit's Anibal Sanchez in Game 1 of the 2013 ALCS against Boston.
