DH Carlos Beltran hit a double in the second inning of Tuesday's game and when the switch-hitter got the hit, it ended an 0-for-29 skid by left-handed hitters for the Astros in this series. He also recorded his 66th postseason hit in his 61st game. At 40 years, 176 days, he is the fourth-oldest player to hit a double in an LCS game. Only Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson and Dave Winfield along with Manny Mota were older.

RF Josh Reddick reached base via catcher's interference seven times during the regular season to lead the majors, but it was a rare occurrence when he did so in the sixth inning of Game 4 of the ALCS Tuesday. It was the first such call in any ALCS and it occurred when C Austin Romine's glove got in the way of his swing on a 3-1 pitch that was fouled off.

3B Kris Bryant finished 2-for-4 with a pair of hard-hit singles Tuesday night in Game 3 of the NLCS to increase his series average to .250 (3 of 12) with three strikeouts. Bryant entered the game hitting only .179 (5 of 28) this postseason.

RHP Lance McCullers kept the Yankees off-balance with effective use of his curveball Tuesday as he allowed one run on two hits in six-plus innings of Game 4 of the ALCS. McCullers threw the pitch 44 times and often used it to get ground ball outs. "He was awesome," Houston manager A.J. Hinch said. "And I'm really proud of him because I know how important this start was for him."

2B/SS Javier Baez went 0-for-1 in a pinch-hit appearance Tuesday night in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, extending his hitless streak to 0-for-20 during the postseason. He is one out away from matching the longest hitless streak in Cubs' postseason history (Jimmy Sheckard, 0-for-21 in 1906).

OF Kyle Schwarber hit his first home run of the postseason and the sixth home run of his postseason career Tuesday night in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Dodgers. He pulled even with teammate Anthony Rizzo for the most career home runs in Cubs' postseason history. Schwarber also fielded a line drive off the left-field wall and threw out Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig at second base.

RHP Kyle Hendricks (1-1) drew his first loss of the postseason against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS on Tuesday night. Hendricks allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in five-plus innings. He walked one and struck out five. In each of his past two playoff starts, Hendricks has allowed two home runs.

3B Justin Turner finished 0-for-3 and drew two walks in a 6-1 win over the Cubs in Game 3 of the NLCS on Tuesday night. He snapped a five-game hitting streak to open the postseason. In the first three games of the National League Championship Series, he is hitting .273 (3 of 11) with one home run and five RBIs.

OF Andre Ethier went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-1 win over the Cubs in Game 3 of NLCS on Tuesday night. The blast marked Ethier's first home run this postseason and the sixth of his career. The veteran has a hit each of his last four postseason starts.

SS Chris Taylor went 2-for-5 with a triple, a home run and two RBIs in a 6-1 win over the Cubs in Game 3 of the NLCS on Tuesday night. Taylor is the sixth player in Dodgers history to record a triple and a home run in the same postseason game. He is hitting .333 (4 of 12) with two home runs and three RBIs in the series.

RHP Yu Darvish (1-0) stymied the Cubs on Tuesday night to help the Dodgers grab a 3-0 series lead in the National League Championship Series. Darvish limited the Cubs to one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out seven. "He just had that rhythm, the poise, and didn't allow a whole lot of hard contact," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

1B/DH Hanley Ramirez underwent successful left shoulder surgery Tuesday and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2018 season. Ramirez, 33, had a left shoulder arthroscopy and debridement procedure performed by Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Fla. "Hi my people, went in for left shoulder surgery today, keep me in prayers. Coming back stronger in '18, love you all #RedSoxNation @RedSox," Ramirez wrote on his Twitter account Tuesday accompanied with a picture of himself in a hospital bed. Ramirez, a 13-year veteran and three-time All-Star, had a career-worst .242 batting average with 23 home runs and 62 RBIs this past season.

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez underwent successful right knee surgery Tuesday and is expected to return to pitching in six months. The right knee patellofemoral ligament reconstruction was performed by Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Fla. Rodriguez, 24, posted a 6-7 record with a 4.19 ERA in 25 games (24 starts) last season, his third in the big leagues.

RF Aaron Judge hit his second homer of the postseason and made a highlight-reel catch on Houston DH Yuli Gurriel in the fourth inning when he crashed into the right field fence. Judge also raised his strikeout total to 21, moving him into a third-place tie on the all-time list for a single postseason. The record is held by Alfonso Soriano, who struck out 26 times in 17 games during the 2003 postseason. Judge has appeared in just nine games in this year's playoffs.

RHP Charlie Morton lasted 3 2/3 innings during his third career postseason starts, allowing seven runs on six hits in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series at Yankee Stadium. Morton, who had a ground-ball rate of 51 percent during the regular season, recorded only three of his outs on the ground. In three career postseason starts, Morton has allowed 11 runs on 16 hits in 13 2/3 innings.

RHP Dellin Betances continued to struggle in the postseason Monday when he started the ninth inning by walking 1B Marwin Gonzalez and PH Derek Fisher. He was lifted after walking Fisher and heard some boos while walking off the mound. Betances owns a 6.00 ERA in four postseason appearances. He has allowed five walks in three innings, and in two outings did not retire a batter. After the game, manager Joe Girardi said Betances was "out of whack" with his mechanics.

LHP CC Sabathia improved to 10-0 after a Yankees loss this season when he allowed three hits in six innings during a 8-1 win Monday in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series against Houston. It was the first time he did not allow a run in a postseason start. Sabathia has 19 strikeouts in this year's postseason, matching his second-best total through the first two rounds. In 2009, he fanned 20 hitters in the first two rounds, and in 2012, he fanned 19.

RHP Luis Severino was not sent for tests, and he was named the starter for Game 6 on Friday if the AL Championship Series returns to Houston. Severino exited after four innings and 62 pitches in Game 2 on Saturday because Yankees manager Joe Girardi was concerned about a possible shoulder injury. Girardi's concerns were based on Severino aggressively moving his arm in a manner not seen before. Severino has pitched 11 strong innings in two postseason starts after getting only one out in the AL wild-card game on Oct. 3.

RHP Lance McCullers Jr. was named as Houston's starter for Game 4 on Tuesday following the Astros' 8-1 loss to the Yankees in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series on Monday. McCullers is making his fourth start since returning from the disabled list last month following a back injury. In his past eight starts, he is 0-3 with an 8.63 ERA. McCullers is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees.

RHP Collin McHugh pitched four scoreless innings in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series on Monday, marking the longest relief appearance in a postseason game in Houston's history. The previous longest was by Wandy Rodriguez, who pitched 3 1/3 in Game 1 of the 2005 World Series against the Chicago White Sox.
