RHP Justin Verlander gave up two home runs, but they were the only two hits he allowed. Verlander, the MVP of the Astros' ALCS victory over the New York Yankees, has pitched in five games this postseason and his team has won them all. Verlander has a 2.05 ERA in the 2017 postseason over 30 2/3 innings.

2B Jose Altuve hit a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning, becoming the first player with a long ball to put his team ahead in extra innings during a World Series game since David Freese's game-ending home run in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series. Altuve also went back-to-back with SS Carlos Corea, becoming the 16th duo to pull off the feat in the World Series. Altuve has six homers in the 2017 postseason.

LF Marwin Gonzalez became the 10th player in World Series history to hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning. His solo shot off Dodgers RHP Kenley Jansen tied the game 3-3. The last player to tie a World Series game in the ninth inning with a homer was the Royals' Alex Gordon in Game 1 in 2015.

RHP Kenley Jansen recorded the save in Game 1, delivering a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout. Jansen has now started his postseason career with 12 consecutive save conversions, the most ever since saves became official in 1969. The next longest streak is eight, by five different players.

Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw struck out 11 batters in Game 1 on Tuesday, the fifth time he has reached double digits in strikeouts in a playoff game during his career. He was one strikeout shy of his single-game playoff record. The 11 strikeouts are fifth most for a pitcher in a World Series debut.

2B Jose Altuve had a single Tuesday but is just 4-for-21 (.190) over his last six postseason games. Before that, Altuve had multiple hits in five of his first six games in the 2017 playoffs. He does have five home runs in these playoffs, the second most in franchise history to Carlos Beltran's eight in 2004.

3B Justin Turner hit his fourth home run of this postseason, one off the Dodgers record in one playoffs set by Davey Lopes in 1978. He now has 26 career postseason RBIs, tied with Duke Snider for most in Dodgers history. His 14 RBIs this postseason are a Dodgers record.

LHP Dallas Keuchel has now lost consecutive playoff starts after giving up two home runs Tuesday and falling to the Dodgers in Game 1. He had won his first four career postseason starts, becoming the first pitcher in Astros history to accomplish that feat. Tuesday was his first career outing against the Dodgers.

Astros RHP Justin Verlander, the AL Championship Series MVP, will start Game 2 on Wednesday against Dodgers LHP Rich Hill. Verlander has appeared in four games this postseason and the Astros have won them all. He was 2-0 in the ALCS against the Yankees, with a 0.56 ERA in two starts, with 21 strikeouts.

3B Alex Bregman, at 23 years, 208 days, became the youngest American League player to hit a home run in a World Series since Manny Ramirez (23 years, 148 days) in 1995. Bregman has taken both Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale deep this postseason.

SS Carlos Correa became the seventh native of Puerto Rico to bat cleanup in a World Series, with teammates Carlos Beltran also on that list. Others on that list include Bernie Williams, Orlando Cepeda, Sixto Lezcano, Jorge Posada and Onix Concepcion.

OF Curtis Granderson was dropped from the World Series roster. Granderson was 1-for-15 with eight strikeouts in the first two rounds. He batted .161 (18-for-112) with seven homers and 12 RBIs during the regular season after being acquired from the New York Mets in August.

SS Corey Seager was added to the World Series roster. Seager missed the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs with a back injury. He was injured on a slide in Game 3 of the Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Seager was 3-for-11 in the NLDS and is a .211 (15-for-71) hitter in 19 postseason games. He batted .295 with 22 homers and 77 RBIs in 145 regular-season games.

RHP Brandon McCarthy was added to the World Series roster. McCarthy was 6-4 with a 3.98 ERA in 19 games (16 starts) during the regular season. He only pitched six innings since July 20 due to a knee injury.

RHP R.A. Dickey had his contract option for 2018 declined by the Atlanta Braves, the team announced Monday. Dickey, 42, just completed his 15th major league season, going 10-10 with a 4.26 ERA in 31 starts in his lone year with the Braves. He made his 300th career start and 400th career appearance in his final turn of the season on Sept. 26.

C Tyler Flowers had his contract option picked up for the 2018 season, the team announced Monday. The 2018 campaign will mark Flowers' third with the Braves and his 10th in the majors. He batted a career-best .281 with 12 home runs and 49 RBIs in 99 games this season. In his two seasons since joining Atlanta as a free agent, the 31-year-old Flowers is hitting .276 with 20 homers and 90 RBIs over 182 games. Flowers, 31, underwent arthroscopic debridement surgery on his left wrist on Oct. 9. He is expected to be fully ready for the start of spring training.

RF Aaron Judge finished 0-for-4 and struck out in his final plate appearance of the postseason, running his total to 27 to set a franchise record. Judge surpassed the mark previously held by Yankees 2B Alfonso Soriano, who recorded 26 strikeouts over 75 plate appearances in 2003. Judge finished his first postseason with 57 plate appearances.

RHP Tommy Kahnle had retired 28 of 32 batters faced over six appearances and 10 scoreless innings this postseason before surrendering three runs in the fifth inning. Astros 2B Jose Altuve broke the scoreless string with a solo home run before Astros C Brian McCann added a two-run double. Kahnle had allowed only two hits this postseason before surrendering four in Game 7.

LHP CC Sabathia had been 10-0 with a 1.69 ERA over 13 starts following a Yankees loss this season, but was saddled with the decision after allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 3 1/3 innings. Sabathia produced his shortest outing in a postseason start since working only two innings in Game 1 of the 2011 American League Division Series against Detroit.
