Tue Mar 22 202213:57Luis Castillo Might Not Be Ready For Opening Day
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo (shoulder) was shut down for a day due to right shoulder soreness and may not be ready for the start of the season, according to manager David Bell. The right-hander has advanced to long toss and is moving in the right direction, but he may not have enough time due to the shortened spring training this year. As long as the 29-year-old doesn't suffer any setbacks from here on out, though, he may wind up missing a few starts to open the 2022 season. When healthy, Castillo is a solid SP3 for fantasy managers, and he may come at a discount this year because of his shoulder issues. In a league-high 31 starts in 2021, he had a 3.98 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with a 23.9% strikeout rate over 187 2/3 innings pitched.

Wed Mar 16 202218:40Luis Castillo Not Expected To Be Traded
Cincinnati Reds starter Luis Castillo isn't expected to be traded despite the team's ongoing fire sale, general manager Nick Krall told Bobby Nightengale Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Krall, who noted that the team still intends to add to its roster, won't trade Tyler Mahle, either. This development comes after the Reds traded Sonny Gray, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, Amir Garrett, and Francis Peguero within the course of four days. Clearly, Cincinnati isn't in a position to be competitive this season, so perhaps they'll let Castillo build up his trade value and then shop him around at the trade deadline. The hard-throwing right-hander was solid in 2021, posting a 3.63 xERA, 23.9 percent strikeout rate, and 9.3 percent walk rate.

Sun Nov 28 202120:03Angels Discussing Luis Castillo Deal
The Los Angeles Angels have shown interest in a trade with Cincinnati Reds starter Luis Castillo, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. They have engaged in "preliminary" talks, but the two clubs are far from a deal as the Reds have set a high price tag. Castillo got off to a poor start on the mound this season but figured things out after May. He ended up with a 3.98 ERA, 192 strikeouts, and a 1.36 WHIP in 33 starts and 187.2 innings after posting a 4.65 first-half ERA. The 28-year old still has two years of control, so the team is not in a rush to trade him. The Angels have been on the search for pitching this offseason, previously signing Noah Syndergaard to a one-year deal, but aren't satisfied yet.

Wed Nov 10 202121:35Mariners Reportedly Interested in Luis Castillo
According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Seattle Mariners "are among the teams to check in with the #Reds on right-hander Luis Castillo." Seattle, coming off a 90-win season, could use the rotation reinforcements to bolster a group that struggled, at times, outside of Chris Flexen and Logan Gilbert. Adding a pitcher like Castillo would certainly help the Mariners in their push for the playoffs. Joining a potential playoff team with a quality infield defense wouldn't exactly hurt Castillo's fantasy potential either.
