Fri Sep 26 201418:19Turner will start Sunday's game against Brewers
Turner will start Sunday's game against the Brewers, the Chicago Sun-Times' Gordon Wittenmyer reports.
Kyle Hendricks was anticipated to be the starter for the final game of the regular season, but with Hendricks sitting at over 180 innings this season (a career high), they decided to shut him down. This is bad news for fantasy owners, as Hendricks would have been an intriguing option, while Turner has a 6.98 ERA in 29.2 innings with the Cubs this season.

Turner lost Monday against the Blue Jays as he pitched six innings and allowed five runs (four earned), seven hits and one walk to go along with two strikeouts.
Turner allowed only one run in 6.1 innings in his last start, but he followed that up with a poor performance Monday. His stuff isn't overpowering, so he is likely to continue to have trouble stringing together impressive outings.

Turner won Monday against the Brewers as he pitched 6.1 innings and allowed one run, five hits and one walk to go along with seven strikeouts.
Turner has been pitching out of the bullpen of late for the Cubs, but stepped in for the injured Edwin Jackson Monday and posted an impressive outing. With Jackson not expected back anytime soon, Turner may have earned himself at least one more start.
Sat Aug 23 201413:09Turner expected to start Wednesday against Reds
Turner is expected to start Wednesday against the Reds, CSNChicago.com reports.
The team has yet to confirm, but Turner is not listed as being available out of the bullpen Saturday and thus appears destined to take Edwin Jackson's spot in the rotation. With an off day Monday, the Cubs will likely move Travis Wood up to start Tuesday on normal rest and turn to Turner on Wednesday. Turner gave up one run in two innings of relief Tuesday in his second outing with Chicago, and now sports a 5.77 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 22 appearances (12 starts) this season.
Sun Aug 10 201414:33Turner will pitch out of bullpen with Cubs for time being
Turner will pitch out of the bullpen with the Cubs for the time being, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
With both Kyle Hendricks and Tsuyoshi Wada pitching well for the Cubs at the two back-end spots of the rotation, Turner will have to bide his time in long relief until further notice. The 23-year-old was horrendous in both starting and bullpen capacities for the Marlins this season, but he's young enough to rebound from those woes and provide the Cubs with some long-term utility.
Fri Aug 8 201414:56Turner officially acquired by Cubs on Friday
Turner was officially acquired by the Cubs on Friday.
Turner was claimed by the Cubs on Thursday and now the teams have officially reached an agreement to trade him in exchange for two minor league players in Jose Arias and Tyler Bremer. The team also designated Ryan Kalish for assignment to make room for Turner on the 40-man roster. The 23-year-old hurler could end up either in the Cubs' rotation or could pitch out of the bullpen.
Wed Aug 6 201415:06Turner claimed off waivers by Cubs on Wednesday
Turner was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Wednesday, Jim Bowden of ESPN reports.
Turner will either join the rotation for the Cubs or be the long reliever out of the bullpen. He posted a 5.97 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 78.1 innings with the Marlins this year, but the Cubs will look to get more out of the 23-year-old starter.
Tue Aug 5 201412:52Turner designated for assignment Tuesday
Turner was designated for assignment Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Turner lost his spot in the rotation when the Marlins acquired Jarred Cosart at the deadline but quickly gained it back when Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) hit the DL. However, he had a disastrous outing Sunday, allowing five runs on nine hits in just four innings. The loss dropped him to 4-7 on the season and raised his ERA to 5.97. With Turner off the 40-man, southpaw Brian Flynn was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans.

Turner lasted only four innings Sunday against the Reds, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out two. He also allowed three stolen bases, none of which were especially close.
For a pitcher hanging on for dear life in the rotation if not the majors, this was an especially disappointing outing. It could have been worse, as the Reds' Todd Frazier was caught by Turner attempting a delayed steal. He's a good bet to lose his rotation spot once Henderson Alvarez returns from the DL.
Fri Aug 1 201418:22Turner will start Sunday against Reds
Turner will start Sunday against the Reds, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
The team's acquisition of Jarred Cosart from the Astros on Thursday seemed likely to bump Turner to the bullpen, but with Henderson Alvarez hitting the DL with shoulder inflammation, Turner will remain in the rotation. Turner has posted a 5.69 ERA and 1.59 ERA in 74.1 innings this season, and has turned in just two quality starts in 11 turns.

Turner may be replaced by Jarred Cosart for Friday's scheduled outing against the Reds, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
The Marlins acquired Cosart on Thursday, and the ground-ball specialist will presumably replace either Turner or Brad Hand in the rotation. Given that Hand's actually been decent the last few weeks, it would be surprising if Turner isn't booted from the rotation.
Sun Jul 27 201417:57Turner limits Astros to one run in win Sunday
Jacob Turner held the Astros to one run on six hits over 5 2/3 innings in a win Sunday.
Turner struck out four and walked two in the outing, earning his second straight win since rejoining the Marlins rotation. The win moved him to 4-6 but he still owns an unsightly 5.69 ERA and 1.57 WHIP after struggling for most of the year. His next outing will come Friday against the Reds.

Tue Jul 22 201422:54Turner effective over five innings, earns a W
Jacob Turner earned his third win after limiting the Braves to two runs over five innings as the Marlins went on to a 6-5 victory on Tuesday.
Turner was making his first start since June 11. He had been working out of the bullpen, but his struggles followed him there. The Marlins hope Tuesday's start is the turning over of a new leaf, as Turner held the Braves to four hits and two walks while striking out four. He carries an ugly 6.03 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 48/19 K/BB ratio. Turner will take on the Astros in Houston when he takes the mound next.

Sun Jul 20 201412:34Jacob Turner moving back into rotation
Jacob Turner has been moved back into the Marlins' rotation.
Turner held a 6.38 ERA in nine starts earlier this season for the Marlins and hasn't been much better in relief, putting up a 5.74 mark over eight appearances. The former top prospect is still just 23 but has been a major disappointment and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Mon Jun 16 201416:11Marlins moving Jacob Turner to bullpen
The Marlins have moved Jacob Turner to the bullpen.
The Marlins shook up their pitching staff Monday by calling up Andrew Heaney and Anthony DeSclafani and designating both Kevin Slowey and Randy Wolf for assignment. Heaney and DeSclafani are moving into Miami's starting rotation, which means that the struggling Turner will likely move into a longman role. The 23-year-old has a disappointing 6.38 ERA across nine starts this season.

Wed Jun 11 201423:15Turner allows 5 runs for third consecutive GS
Jacob Turner's struggles continued as he fell to 2-4 after allowing five runs in four innings in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers.
Turner allowed five runs in his third consecutive start. He surrendered six hits, walked one, and struck out four. The right-hander, a consensus top prospect as part of the Tigers' system several years ago, has struggled mightily in 2014. He carries a 6.38 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP, but he'll look to lower both in next week's home start against the Cubs.

Thu Jun 5 201420:29Jacob Turner struggles but still wins
Jacob Turner struggled but still managed to pick up a win Thursday, allowing five runs over 5 1/3 frames in an 11-6 victory over the Rays.
Turner yielded eight hits -- including a pair of home runs -- while walking one and striking out three. It was odd to see him sent back out for the sixth after serving up a pair of longballs in the fifth, and he allowed a single and a triple to kick off the frame. With a 5.93 ERA over eight starts, Turner's leash can't be long at this point. He'll try to bounce back next week in Texas.

Jacob Turner surrendered five runs in five innings as the Marlins fell to the Braves on Saturday.
Turner walked four and gave up seven hits in the rough home outing. The 23-year-old right-hander is now 1-3 on the year with a hideous 5.59 ERA and 1.63 WHIP.

Sat May 24 201419:23Turner gets first win with six-plus scoreless
Jacob Turner threw 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball to lead the Marlins past the Brewers 2-1 on Saturday.
Turner yielded eight hits and a walk but worked around those threats to earn his first victory of the 2014 season. He'll carry a 1-2 record, 5.35 ERA, and 1.54 WHIP into his next scheduled start at home against the Braves. The 23-year-old right-hander has just 19 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings this season and is not an attractive fantasy option.

Sun May 18 201419:32Turner allows 4 ER in 6 IP to fall to 0-2
Jacob Turner allowed four runs in six innings and took the loss on Sunday against the Giants.
Turner ran into some trouble in the first inning as the Giants manufactured three runs, but was otherwise solid. The right-hander allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out seven. Turner has only turned in one quality start in five opportunities thus far, but he'll go for number two in his next start against the Brewers at home.
