In 12 appearances he has a 0.71 ERA, with 13 strikeouts, three walks and four hits allowed in 12 2/3 innings. "He's been outstanding," said Indians manager Terry Francona. "He is a really good teammate, he takes the ball, and he's getting guys out, which is good."

RHP Joba Chamberlain was designated for assignment by the Royals on Tuesday, clearing a spot on the 40-man roster for INF Raul A. Mondesi. Chamberlain's contract was selected by the Royals on Monday.
Chamberlain signed a minor league deal with Kansas City last month, and he'll now join the major league roster to provide additional bullpen depth. He's not likely to pitch in high-leverage situations after posting a 4.09 ERA in 30 appearances for the Tigers.
Sun Aug 16 201521:02Chamberlain agreed to minor-league contract with Royals
Chamberlain agreed to a minor-league contract with the Royals, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.
Released by the Blue Jays on Friday, Chamberlain will merely provide organizational depth for the Royals. Even if he eventually makes it back to the majors, he'll likely just be used as a mop-up man.

Chamberlain was released by the Blue Jays on Friday, per Toronto's Triple-A affiliate.
With the playoffs nearly in sight, the Jays have given up on the flier they took on Chamberlain by signing him to a minor league contract. It's hard to fault them for the move, given the rough results the 29-year-old put up in Buffalo. After a perfect inning in his debut, Chamberlain allowed nine hits and four walks in four innings, leading to 10 runs allowed.

Chamberlain struck out two in a perfect inning for Triple-A Buffalo on Monday.
After being claimed from the Tigers last week, Chamberlain made his first appearance for Triple-A Buffalo Monday and pitched well, getting two swinging strikeouts and a groundout. While Monday's acquisition of LaTroy Hawkins makes Chamberlain's path to the MLB more difficult, he has shown flashes during his career of being a lights-out reliever.
Sat Jul 25 201516:42Chamberlain promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday
Chamberlain was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
Chamberlain has quickly moved up to Triple-A after signing a minor league deal with Toronto earlier in the week. It's still unclear when he'll join the Blue Jays' bullpen, however.
Tue Jul 21 201522:23Chamberlain has agreed to minor league contract with Blue Jays
Chamberlain has agreed to a minor league contract with the Blue Jays, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
It took Chamberlain 11 days to land with another ball club after being granted his unconditional release from the Tigers shortly before the break. He'll join the Blue Jays' organization on a minor league deal, but given Toronto's bullpen issues, the veteran may not take long to work his way back up to the big leagues. Chamberlain posted a 4.09 ERA with a concerning 5.47 FIP in his 22.0 innings of work this season as a member of the Tigers. He's set to report to Toronto's minor league complex in Florida.
Fri Jul 10 201516:38Chamberlain granted unconditional release from Tigers on Friday
Chamberlain was granted his unconditional release from the Tigers on Friday.
After being designated for assignment on July 3, Chamberlain was released from the Tigers organization Friday. He tallied a 4.09 ERA with 15 strikeouts and five walks over 22.0 innings of work. Chamberlain is still under 30 years old and could get picked up by another club looking for bullpen depth.
Fri Jul 3 201515:08Chamberlain designated for assignment Friday
Chamberlain was designated for assignment Friday, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.
He has a 4.09 ERA and just 15 strikeouts in 22 innings of relief this year, making him expendable as the Tigers looked to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Given his pedigree there might be another team that thinks he has something left in the tank, but regardless of whether he is claimed or goes to Triple-A, the 29-year-old righty won't be pitching in high-leverage spots anytime soon.

Chamberlain gave up three solo homers while recording just two outs Wednesday in a loss to the Pirates.
After Chamberlain got the first out, he gave up Neil Walker's second homer of the game, got Andrew McCutchen to ground out, then gave up back-to-back jacks to Starling Marte and Pedro Alvarez. He'd given up just two homers in his first 28 appearances, so this was an out-of-character night in that respect, but Chamberlain's now been blown up for three runs twice in his last three appearances.
Tue Jun 23 201515:43Chamberlain surrendered solo home run in Monday's win
Chamberlain surrendered a solo home run in Monday's win. He has allowed four hits in his last 1.2 innings.
His last two outings include a blown save. And he has just one hold in his last five outings, dating back to June 5. His 1.93 ERA is holding strong, but opponents are batting .316 off him and his WHIP is a lofty .145. There's plenty of holds value on the wire if your league counts them -- this guy is struggling right along with the rest of his squad right now.
Sat May 23 201522:44Chamberlain anointed Tigers' eighth-inning man
Chamberlain has been anointed the Tigers' eighth-inning man. He has allowed just one run in eight appearances since an awful outing May 6.
In that game, he allowed four runs on five hits including a three-run home run that tied the game. Since then, he's had an uptick in velocity that's helped give him the upper hand on opposing batters. Those of you in leagues that count holds should keep him in mind -- he has two in his last two appearances.

Chamberlain faced eight batters in the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the White Sox. He struggled through 0.2 IP, giving up six hits (including one HR) and four earned runs to take the loss.
It wasn't really a struggle; it was closer to an implosion. He just couldn't get guys out. His ERA jumped from 1.50 to 6.75 and his WHIP went from 1.17 to 1.95 with this blown save (and loss). So much for late inning value. There's just too much risk with Joba to roll him right now.

Chamberlain entered Monday's game with a 2-1 lead, runners on the corners and one out in the eighth inning, and took just two pitches to get Yankee outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury to ground into an inning-ending double play. It was his first hold of the season.
The Tigers' pen hadn't really been called on in many pressure situations so far this season, so Chamberlain hasn't had too many set up opportunities. But you can't get much more efficient or effective than his performance Monday. He now has a tidy 0.00 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 2K in 2.1 innings.

Chamberlain is among a small group of relievers who will likely be considered for eighth inning work now that Tigers' closer Joe Nathan has gone on the disabled list and Joakim Soria has inherited his job.
Tigers' manager Brad Ausmus mentioned both Chamberlain and lefty Ian Krol as possible set-up men during Wednesday's post-game interview. Al Albuquerque will likely also get an audition. Chamberlain can strike guys out, but has a propensity to gift walks to the opposition and that could put him on a short leash in the eighth.
Mon Apr 6 201513:24Chamberlain had rough spring, but Tigers do not appear worried
Chamberlain had a rough spring, but the Tigers do not appear worried. Manager Brad Ausmus told MLive.com that the pitcher feeds off the adrenaline of regular-season games and has a hard time replicating that during spring training.
Chamberlain himself admitted much of the same and seemed non-plussed by his bloated spring training numbers. He'll trot out of the pen as a middle-relief guy and that will limit his fantasy value until he can earn late-inning work.
