In 12 appearances he has a 0.71 ERA, with 13 strikeouts, three walks and four hits allowed in 12 2/3 innings. "He's been outstanding," said Indians manager Terry Francona. "He is a really good teammate, he takes the ball, and he's getting guys out, which is good."

After being claimed from the Tigers last week, Chamberlain made his first appearance for Triple-A Buffalo Monday and pitched well, getting two swinging strikeouts and a groundout. While Monday's acquisition of LaTroy Hawkins makes Chamberlain's path to the MLB more difficult, he has shown flashes during his career of being a lights-out reliever.

Chamberlain has quickly moved up to Triple-A after signing a minor league deal with Toronto earlier in the week. It's still unclear when he'll join the Blue Jays' bullpen, however.

Chamberlain posted a 4.09 ERA with a concerning 5.47 FIP in his 22.0 innings of work this season as a member of the Tigers. He's set to report to Toronto's minor league complex in Florida.

Chamberlain gave up three solo homers while recording just two outs Wednesday in a loss to the Pirates.

After Chamberlain got the first out, he gave up Neil Walker's second homer of the game, got Andrew McCutchen to ground out, then gave up back-to-back jacks to Starling Marte and Pedro Alvarez. He'd given up just two homers in his first 28 appearances, so this was an out-of-character night in that respect, but Chamberlain's now been blown up for three runs twice in his last three appearances.

Chamberlain surrendered a solo home run in Monday's win. He has allowed four hits in his last 1.2 innings.

His last two outings include a blown save. And he has just one hold in his last five outings, dating back to June 5. His 1.93 ERA is holding strong, but opponents are batting .316 off him and his WHIP is a lofty .145. There's plenty of holds value on the wire if your league counts them -- this guy is struggling right along with the rest of his squad right now.

Chamberlain has been anointed the Tigers' eighth-inning man. He has allowed just one run in eight appearances since an awful outing May 6.

In that game, he allowed four runs on five hits including a three-run home run that tied the game. Since then, he's had an uptick in velocity that's helped give him the upper hand on opposing batters. Those of you in leagues that count holds should keep him in mind -- he has two in his last two appearances.

Chamberlain faced eight batters in the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the White Sox. He struggled through 0.2 IP, giving up six hits (including one HR) and four earned runs to take the loss.

It wasn't really a struggle; it was closer to an implosion. He just couldn't get guys out. His ERA jumped from 1.50 to 6.75 and his WHIP went from 1.17 to 1.95 with this blown save (and loss). So much for late inning value. There's just too much risk with Joba to roll him right now.

Chamberlain entered Monday's game with a 2-1 lead, runners on the corners and one out in the eighth inning, and took just two pitches to get Yankee outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury to ground into an inning-ending double play. It was his first hold of the season.

The Tigers' pen hadn't really been called on in many pressure situations so far this season, so Chamberlain hasn't had too many set up opportunities. But you can't get much more efficient or effective than his performance Monday. He now has a tidy 0.00 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 2K in 2.1 innings.

Chamberlain is among a small group of relievers who will likely be considered for eighth inning work now that Tigers' closer Joe Nathan has gone on the disabled list and Joakim Soria has inherited his job.

Tigers' manager Brad Ausmus mentioned both Chamberlain and lefty Ian Krol as possible set-up men during Wednesday's post-game interview. Al Albuquerque will likely also get an audition. Chamberlain can strike guys out, but has a propensity to gift walks to the opposition and that could put him on a short leash in the eighth.

Chamberlain had a rough spring, but the Tigers do not appear worried. Manager Brad Ausmus told MLive.com that the pitcher feeds off the adrenaline of regular-season games and has a hard time replicating that during spring training.

Chamberlain himself admitted much of the same and seemed non-plussed by his bloated spring training numbers. He'll trot out of the pen as a middle-relief guy and that will limit his fantasy value until he can earn late-inning work.
