He's 5-1 with a 1.78 ERA in his last eight starts, and has limited foes to nine collective earned runs and has no outing in that run with more than two earned runs allowed. Arrieta leads the Cubs in wins and is coming off an Aug. 24 no-decision in which the Cubs lost a late lead and suffered a 4-2 setback last week at Cincinnati. RHP Jake Arrieta made his sixth consecutive quality start since the All-Star break while throwing only 91 pitches in six innings Sunday. He lowered his post-break ERA to 1.94. "It was good," Arrieta said. "Established a really good sinker early in the ball game. That's my M.O. I want to come out and establish good sink early in the ballgame and try to force early contact and try to get to the third or fourth inning at 40 pitches." Arrieta gave up one run on three hits and three walks. He struck out six.
