Guthrie allowed four runs on 11 hits, walking two and striking out three over seven innings of a 4-0 loss to Houston on Friday night.

Guthrie (7-6, 5.35 ERA) has been one of the more hittable starting pitchers in the game this season having allowed 135 hits in just 107.2 innings resulting in an ugly 1.54 WHIP. If he can get games to the Royals overpowering bullpen with a lead, he has a chance to pick up wins, but the parade of baserunners makes him extremely vulnerable.

Guthrie allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk over five innings Saturday, striking out three.

He continues to send a parade of baserunners around the diamond, and Guthrie's 1.52 WHIP is as unsightly as his 5.36 ERA. He isn't likely to have much more success in his next start Thursday in St. Louis, and given the rotation depth the Royals are currently carrying he could be ticketed for the bullpen, or even the street, if he doesn't turn things around soon.

Guthrie (7-5) allowed four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits and four walks while striking out three in six plus innings against the Rays on Wednesday.

Guthrie walked four on Wednesday, the most he's allowed since April 22 when he walked six against the Twins. However, he also had his third straight quality start, two of which were wins. He'll head into the All-Star break with a 7-5 record, a 5.36 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 50:28 K:BB ratio in 95.2 innings.

Guthrie held the Twins to two runs on five hits over 7.1 innings in a no-decision Friday night.

He pitched well, staying ahead of hitters consistently (20-of-29 first-pitch strikes) and largely avoiding free passes with just one walk in the outing. Guthrie remains a volatile commodity on a start-to-start basis, however, with a 5.42 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 16 starts thanks to a meager 47 strikeouts over 89.2 innings.

Guthrie was strong during Sunday's win against the Athletics, allowing just two runs with seven strikeouts and one walk across six innings.

The veteran ran into a bit of trouble in the third inning when he allowed both runs after putting men on base, but was able to minimize the damage and shut it down the rest of the way. Guthrie's ERA is still an ugly 5.68, but he has allowed more than three earned runs just twice in his last 10 starts. His next start will come Friday against Minnesota.

Guthrie took his fifth loss as he served up six runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings Tuesday against the Mariners.

Guthrie remains extremely hittable, as he has given up fewer hits than innings pitched just three times in 14 starts this year. His ERA jumped to 5.90; the veteran hasn't posted an ERA under 4.00 since 2010 with the Orioles.

Guthrie will start Sunday in Oakland, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Guthrie is slated to take the hill Tuesday, and the team confirmed Monday that he will also take the hill Sunday. The veteran is 5-4 with a 5.55 ERA on the year.

Guthrie (5-4) pitched six effective innings Thursday against the Brewers, giving up two runs and seven hits while striking out four.

Guthrie picked up his first victory since May 20, allowing two runs in six innings. He had his fourth quality start in 13 starts this season, but his 5.55 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 33:20 K:BB ratio in 71.1 innings renders him unrosterable in most formats. His next start will be Tuesday at Seattle.

Guthrie took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on 10 hits and a walk over five innings, striking out four.

He's managed just three quality starts in 12 outings this season, and Guthrie's 5.79 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 29:20 K:BB ratio in 65.1 innings make him all but unrosterable in just about any format. Joe Blanton is joining the rotation in place of Jason Vargas (hip), but if Blanton is even adequate it could be Guthrie who loses his spot when one of the Royals' injured starters returns from the DL. In the short term though, his next start will come on Thursday, at home against the Brewers.

Guthrie was solid for the second straight start Sunday against the Rangers, allowing two runs through 6.1 innings with five strikeouts and two walks. He did not factor into the decision.

The veteran pitched well enough to win, but the bullpen allowed the Rangers to tie the game in the seventh before the Royals answered in the bottom of the eighth. Guthrie has apparently put the one-inning, 11 run demolition at the hands of the Yankees behind him, and has actually allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. He is next scheduled to face the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Guthrie was surprisingly solid Tuesday, giving up just one run on two hits and one walk in 5.2 innings against the Indians.

Of course he still managed to leave fantasy owners wanting more as he notched just one strikeout and failed to get the win. Despite issuing just one walk, Guthrie seems to have labored throughout the start, needing 105 pitches (63 strikes) to pitch into the sixth inning. Guthrie has made 10 starts this season and his season high for strikeouts in a game sits at three, which does an apt job of showcasing how little upside accompanies this profile.

Guthrie (4-3) was torched for a career-worst 11 earned runs on nine hits and three walks over just one inning in Monday's blowout loss to the Yankees.

Guthrie was allowed to come out start the second inning, but was quickly pulled after Stephen Drew became the fourth Yankee player to homer off him on the afternoon. This was not just Guthrie's worst start of the year, but arguably the worst start by any pitcher to take the mound in the 2015 season. The showing was especially disappointing considering that Guthrie had emerged victorious in each of his last three outings. Yankee Stadium hasn't been kind to the soft-tossing right-hander over his career, and another dismal outing there brings Guthrie's ERA to 6.70 on the year.

Guthrie pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out three, to pick up his fourth win of the season Wednesday against the Reds.

Guthrie (4-2) pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out predicament in the first inning and won his third straight start. The Royals tied a club record with 24 consecutive scoreless innings, but that streak ended when Ryan Madson relieved Guthrie and allowed a two-out RBI double to Brandon Phillips. The Royals, winners of five of their last six games, are off to the best start in franchise history, and Guthrie will look to pick up his fourth straight win in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Yankees.

It was his first quality start of the season, and shaved his ERA down to a still-unsightly 5.70. Guthrie isn't someone you want to rely on in most fantasy formats, but he'll try to provide another decent outing on Thursday in Texas.

Guthrie was moved up in the rotation to make this start, and it didn't go very well at all. He only recorded one strikeout, and he got hammered all over the park. Guthrie now holds an ERA of 6.52 to go along with a WHIP of 1.59. We wouldn't recommend Guthrie as a valuable fantasy option in the near future.

Guthrie will start for the Royals on Sunday against the Tigers, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.

The Royals made the rotation switch Friday night, moving Guthrie up to Sunday and pushing Jason Vargas back to Tuesday's series opener against the Indians. For owners of Guthrie in deeper and AL-only formats, the move to facing a potent Tigers' lineup is clearly an undesirable switch. He has yet to face Detroit this season, but had a 7.71 ERA over four starts in 2014. He made it through just 18.2 innings in those outings.

Guthrie (1-1) picked up a no-decision Tuesday against the Indians, allowing six hits and four earned runs in five innings while walking three batters and striking out three others.

Guthrie has yet to go longer than six innings in a game in his past three starts and has a combined nine walks in that span. Heading into this game, he had a FIP of 6.53 and an ERA of 5.50. He'll face the Indians again in his next start Sunday.

Guthrie, the fifth starter for the Royals, had been competing with Chris Young in training camp. Manager Ned Yost went with the veteran. Guthrie could be considered in deep AL-only formats.

Guthrie was announced as the Royals' fifth starter Wednesday, the Kansas City Star reports.

Guthrie had been pushed a bit by Chris Young during camp, but it looks like manager Ned Yost will continue to roll with his veteran to close out the rotation. Guthrie will be 36 in early-April, and considering that he hasn't posted a K/9 rate higher than 6.0 since 2007, he isn't an attractive fantasy option outside of deeper AL-only formats.

Guthrie will "assume his regular position in the back of the club's rotation" in 2015, the Kansas City Star reports.

Guthrie was moved down to make a start in the minors instead of his regular spring start earlier in the week, as it was instead Chris Young who took the hill with the big league squad. However, Guthrie had been dealing with an illness of late, which likely had more to do with the switch than any pending demotion. The club fully expects the veteran to round out their rotation this year, but being a contract season with many young arms on the horizon in the organization, it could be one of his last years with the team.
