RHP Taylor Jungmann had nothing on the ball Monday, giving up eight hits and eight runs in two-plus innings and absorbing the loss. Jungmann threw 60 pitches and got just two swings and misses, allowing five doubles and two triples before departing after Yadier Molina doubled off the left-field wall in the third. It was the shortest start in Jungmann's brief career.

RHP Taylor Jungmann was effective in his first start of the 2016 season, holding the Giants to two runs -- one earned -- on three hits over five innings of work. He had thrown only 89 pitches when manager Craig Counsell went to the bullpen, but Counsell said there was no issue; he just wanted to get his bullpen some work heading into an off-day.

Jungmann (9-8) struggled in his final start of the season Thursday, lasting only three-plus innings while allowing three runs on four hits and four walks against the Padres.
After putting up a sparkling 2.23 ERA through his first 13 starts after being called up, things took a distinct turn for the worse for Jungmann down the stretch, as he was bombarded to the tune of 24 earned runs in 22.2 innings over his final five outings, a stretch that can largely be attributed to a sudden tendency to serve up long balls. Jungmann gave up eight homers in those last five outings -- an odd development, considering that he'd allowed just four in his first 25 starts of the year, including his time in the minors. Still, the fine run Jungmann went on -- not to mention the lack of luster associated with his name despite his status as a former No. 12 overall pick -- will make him an intriguing sleeper option in next year's drafts.

Jungmann (9-7) gave up six runs on six hits and three walks in five innings against the Cardinals on Thursday. He struck out five.
Over his last four starts, Jungmann has completely imploded -- he's given up a whopping seven homers among 25 hits in 19.2 innings, leading to 22 runs (21 earned). The walk rate has spiked; the strikeout rate has faded. Jungmann's shown a lot of promise in his rookie campaign, but his recent stretch serves as a painful reminder that he hasn't yet arrived as a legitimate fantasy asset in standard formats.

Jungmann earned a no-decision on Sunday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out six.
The right-hander was strong until he ran into a spot of trouble in the fourth, when he allowed three runs on two hits and two walks, ultimately costing him a shot at a win. Despite allowing 10 runs in his last two outings, Jungmann still has a 3.05 ERA in 106 innings this season and will look to get back on track Saturday against the Reds.

Jungmann got chased early Tuesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 3.2 innings against the Marlins.
This was his second shortest start of the season, and the third time in his last six starts that he failed to pitch five-plus innings. His home/road splits are quite telling in those last six starts. Over that stretch he has allowed one run total in three home starts (18.1 innings) while surrendering 10 runs in three road starts (10.1 innings). His next start will come Sunday in Pittsburgh, which may be one to avoid in shallower leagues.

Jungmann pitched well on Wednesday, allowing just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three across six innings in a win over Pittsburgh.
Jungmann has been the best pitcher for the Brewers this season and that's a huge surprise considering he started the year in the minors without much farfare. He now has a 2.42 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in his 16 starts. The only slight fpr Jungmann is that he has failed to strike out more than five batters in three straight starts. In any case, he should continue his success against the Marlins on Tuesday.
Tue Sep 1 201512:11Jungmann will not start Wednesday's game against Pirates
Jungmann will not start Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The Brewers are bringing up Zach Davies from Triple-A Charlotte as a September call-up, and Davies will get the starting nod Wednesday. Jungmann is not injured, so it looks as though the Brewers will simply shuffle the rotation, and Jungmann figures to slot back in later in the week. He could pitch as early as Thursday if the Brewers opt to bump struggling Matt Garza from the rotation for a turn or two.

Jungmann (8-5) pitched six scoreless innings on Friday, striking out five and conceding three hits and three walks in a win over the Reds.
It seems as though there are a handful of rookie pitchers who emerge every summer to help steer fantasy leagues' playoff pictures. Jungmann has become one of those pitchers. Jungmann has a 2.34 ERA since July 1, a figure that is more impressive considering he got tossed around for five runs over four innings in his last start. Over that same 10-start span, Jungmann is averaging 8.76 K/9. Pick up your Jungmann while supplies last.

Jungmann took the loss Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over just four innings while striking out five.
He's been alternating quality starts with shorter outings lately, and Saturday was apparently his turn for a stinker. Jungmann still holds a 2.66 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 14 starts since being called up though, and if the pattern holds he'll be due for an excellent outing Friday at home against the Reds.

Jungmann was excellent in Sunday's start against the Phillies, striking out nine batters with two walks in 6.1 shutout innings en route to his seventh win of the season.
The 25-year-old lasted just 2.2 innings in his previous start, but he was dominant on Sunday and only allowed one runner past first base. Jungmann now has a sparkling 2.23 ERA through 80.2 innings this season and he will look to keep it rolling Saturday against the Nationals.

Jungmann struggled mightily Tuesday, taking the loss by allowing four runstwo earnedthrough just 2.2 innings against the Cubs.
It was a rare off day for Jungmann, who has a pristine 2.42 ERA even after the sloppy start. The Brewers' rookie hurler will look to get back on track when he takes the mound against the Phillies this weekend.

Jungmann (6-3) struck out a career-high eight and allowed two runs on six hits without a walk over seven innings against the Padres on Wednesday.
After giving up a run and three hits in the first, Jungmann settled down and retired 17 of the next 18 batters. He finished the game having given up two runs and six hits and has now allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight straight starts and in 10 of his last 11.

Jungmann (5-3)struck out seven over 5.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and two walks in a loss to the Cubs.
Friday was the second consecutive start in which Jungmann took the loss despite allowing just two runs. If he had recorded another out, Jungmann would have extended his quality-start streak to six. The rookie's 2.23 ERA and 1.10 WHIP earn him a spot on your rotation. If he's able to keep the strikeouts coming, consider it gravy.

Jungmann (5-2) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks over six innings in Saturday's loss to the Diamondbacks, striking out seven.
Jungmann pitched reasonably well despite his control problems, but two first-inning runs were all Arizona would need thanks to a dominant effort by Rubby de la Rosa. The rookie nonetheless continues to be a bright spot in Milwaukee's otherwise ugly season, as Jungmann has now allowed two or fewer runs in eight of his first nine career starts. The 25-year-old has walked at least two batters in six straight starts, but his 1.50 ERA in 42 innings over that span suggests he knows how to work around those free passes. Jungmann will have a chance to build on his strong campaign Thursday when he takes on the light-hitting Cubs at home.

Jungmann (5-1) picked up the win Sunday, giving up one run on five hits and three walks in seven innings of work against the Pirates.
The 25-year-old pitched another gem, striking out five batters and effectively induced groundball after groundball through 102 pitches. The former first-round pick has been a pleasant surprise for the Brewers, giving up just five runs in his last 30 innings, including a complete game against the Dodgers in his last start. Jungmann now sports a 2.04 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 53 innings and will go against the Diamondbacks in Arizona next.

Jungmann gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings Tuesday against the Phillies.
While Jungmann was once a first round pick, it would have been difficult to predict that after his first five big league starts he would have a 2.79 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, just based on his track record in the minor leagues. Remember, this is a pitcher who was drafted out of the University of Texas who was beaten to the major leagues by some high school pitchers from his draft class. He is certainly a pitcher worth keeping an eye on, but nobody should be surprised if eventually his fortune starts to change. Jungmann will make his next start Sunday in Cincinnati.

Jungmann threw five shutout innings Thursday against the Mets, striking out five while working around four hits and two walks.
It was an effective outing for the rookie, but not an efficient one, as he needed 91 pitches to finish five frames and didn't earn a decision thanks to the sparkling pitching by Jacob deGrom on the other end. Still, Jungmann has provided the Brewers with a credible back-of-the-rotation presence in his four starts thus far -- he generally throws strikes and he's got a little bat-missing ability. It's worth remembering that once upon a time (that is, 2011), he was the 12th overall pick.

Jungmann (2-1) picked up the win against Colorado on Friday, giving up four runs over six innings of work. He allowed eight hits and one walk while striking out four.
The 25-year-old has now given up seven earned runs over 18 innings in his first three starts for the Brewers. His 7.00 strikeouts per nine innings are nothing to write home about, but Jungmann could prove valuable if Milwaukee's offense continues to give him run support.

Jungmann was handed his first loss of the season Sunday as he allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks through five innings against the Nationals. He struck out five batters in the defeat.
The 25-year-old needed 105 pitches to make it through five frames, but was able to limit the damage and pitched well enough to win if he had received the run support. Jungmann now owns a 2.25 ERA through two career starts and could stick in the rotation, although the date of his next start hasn't been determined yet.
