Grimm recorded the final out of Saturday's 8-6 win over the Giants to pick up his third save of the season.

James Russell and Jason Motte did their best to cough up a five-run lead in the ninth, but Grimm managed to put out the fire. Don't expect him to join in the competition for the Cubs' closer gig based on this result, but Motte likely put himself further away from regaining the role.

Grimm took the loss Friday by failing to retire any of the four batters he faced in the 10th inning.

The one run Grimm gave up was unearned, thanks to an error by Mike Baxter, but Grimm also gave up two hits and a walk. Though Grimm has a 1.53 ERA on the year, his WHIP has been rising, as he's given up five hits and a walk in his last 2.2 innings. That said, his 28 strikeouts in 17.2 innings might indicate he should be pitching in high-leverage situations.

Grimm gave up one run in one inning against the Nationals on Friday.

Grimm has given up at least one run in four of his last seven appearances. In 5.1 innings during that span, he's given up fiev runs, nine hits and five walks. Though he has six holds this year, only one has come in those seven games.

Grimm (forearm) was activated from the DL on Wednesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Grimm was battling inflammation in his forearm, which has kept him out of action to date. The 26-year-old will join the Chicago bullpen, where he threw 69.0 innings last season, posting a 3.78 ERA with 70 strikeouts.

The Cubs are deciding whether Grimm (forearm) will need another rehab appearance, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Grimm began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Monday, issuing one walk and striking out two in a scoreless frame. The right-hander has yet to pitch in the majors this season due to elbow inflammation.
