Tue Aug 18 201523:59Romero optioned to Triple-A Durham after Tuesday's game
Romero was optioned to Triple-A Durham after Tuesday's game, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports.
He could return to offer bullpen depth later in the season, most likely in September, but with a 7.15 ERA Romero likely won't find his way into any save situations.
Mon Aug 17 201514:14Romero recalled from Triple-A Durham on Monday
Romero was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Monday, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Romero has split much of his time this season between Triple-A and the majors, and should provide the team with an extra arm in middle relief.
Mon Jun 22 201522:51Romero optioned to Triple-A Durham following Monday's game
Romero was optioned to Triple-A Durham following Monday's game, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The flamethrowing 24-year-old southpaw struck out three in two innings Monday, but also gave up three hits, a walk and a run. Fortunately, he appears to be over the back tightness that forced him out of his last appearance. Romero's given up 10 runs (nine earned) in just 10.1 innings out of the Tampa bullpen, so he'll continue to hone his craft in the minor leagues, where he's generally worked as a starter.
Wed Jun 17 201500:25Romero left Tuesday's game with lower-back tightness
Romero left Tuesday's game with lower-back tightness, the Associated Press reports.
He gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out one in two innings prior to exiting, so some of those struggles may have been caused by an ailing back. Consider him day-to-day for now, but it does not seem like Romero will be pitching in high-leverage situations at the big league level anytime soon, even if he does get healthy.

Romero was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.
The Rays have maintained a pretty consistent movement for their low-priority arms between the majors and Durham, with Romero now being called up for the third time in a month. He'll settle back into his usual bullpen role, and is likely to hit Durham again in the next few weeks.
Tue Jun 9 201522:55Romero optioned to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday

Sun Jun 7 201500:48Romero recalled from Triple-A Durham after Friday's game
Romero was recalled from Triple-A Durham after Friday's game.
The Rays swapped out Andrew Bellatti, who threw three scoreless innings of relief Friday, with a fresh arm in Romero. Romero will assume the long role for Tampa after posting a 2.41 ERA in his first five appearances (three starts) with Durham, though that role isn't likely to yield significant fantasy value.
Sat May 23 201519:44Romero optioned to Triple-A Durham after Saturday's game
Romero was optioned to Triple-A Durham after Saturday's game.
The Rays brought Romero up for some bullpen insurance after five relievers were used in Friday's win. Sure enough, Romero was needed for three innings Saturday after starter Nate Karns went just 5.2 frames, but Romero walked five and will now head back down and await another opportunity. A corresponding move will not be announced until Sunday.
Sat May 23 201500:31Romero recalled from Triple-A Durham on Saturday
Romero was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Saturday.
Romero has long been on the prospect radar, but he has since fallen off as a rotation option. There has been no official word on what his role will be with the Rays, but it seems likely that he will be used as a bullpen arm, with the chance to eventually replace one of the bottom three pitchers in the Rays' rotation if he makes a strong impression.
Mon Apr 6 201512:39Romero on 7-day DL at Triple-A Durham with back injury
Romero is on the 7-day DL at Triple-A Durham with a back injury, the Montgomery Advertiser reports. "I will stay in extended (spring training) for a month," Romero said. "After that, I don't know if I'll go to the majors or go to Triple-A, but I'll be ready to go."
Romero is throwing up to 120 feet. He hurt his back two weeks ago and the injury ended any chance he had to be a temporary replacement for injured starters in the big league rotation.
Thu Mar 19 201516:10Romero optioned to Triple-A on Thursday
Romero was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Romero was getting some consideration for a temporary rotation spot to start the year, but his assignment to Triple-A narrows the field to Nate Karns, Burch Smith, Matt Andreise, Mike Montgomery and Everett Teaford. The Rays will have three spots to fill early on, with Alex Cobb (forearm), Drew Smyly (shoulder) and Alex Colome (illness) all out. Romero gave up two earned runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts in 3.2 spring innings with the big club.
Wed Mar 18 201516:43Romero being considered as option for temporary place in Rays' r...
Romero is being considered as an option for a temporary place in the Rays' rotation, the Tampa Tribune reports.
As it stands right now, he's probably on the outside looking in, but Romero could push Burch Smith and Matt Andriese for a rotation spot while the Rays are forced to open the year without the services of Drew Smyly, Alex Cobb, and Alex Colome due to a variety of ailments. Romero posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 25 stats (126 innings) at Triple-A Durham last season while finishing with a 117:52 K:BB.

Tue May 13 201418:23Enny Romero to start on Wednesday
Rays pitching prospect Enny Romero is expected to be called up to start on Wednesday versus the Mariners.
Jake Odorizzi had been expected to get the ball. It's not clear whether he's injured or if the Rays just want to give him some extra rest. Romero has put up a 5.02 ERA with 36 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings at Triple-A Durham this season. While a nice prospect, the 23-year-old is not a great streaming option.

Mon Apr 14 201418:36Romero could start for Odorizzi (illness)
Rays pitching prospect Enny Romero has been scratched from Monday's start at Triple-A Durham.
Romero is in a holding pattern, as he could start on Tuesday if Jake Odorizzi (illness) can't go. As of now, the Rays think Odorizzi will be able to tough it out. Romero holds a 3.72 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 9 2/3 frames in his first two Triple-A starts this season.

Thu Apr 10 201409:14Rays LHP Romero strikes out eight
Rays left-handed pitching prospect Enny Romero struck out eight batters in 5 2/3 innings for Triple-A Durham on Wednesday night.
With Matt Moore out with a torn UCL, Romero is the logical replacement in the rotation. With 12 strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings in 2014, Romero has been impressive. His Achilles' heel has been a high walk rate (4.6 per 9 innings for his career), but he could provide decent fantasy value given his career 8.5 K/9.

Tampa Bay is stocked with young pitching talent, but Romero may be in the running for a rotation spot next spring. He posted a 2.61 ERA in 28 starts this year between Double-A and Triple-A.

Enny Romero tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings against the Orioles in his MLB debut on Sunday.
Romero walked four, but he used his nasty raw stuff to induce nine groundball outs and the 22-year-old left-hander yielded just one hit. Romero has a bright future in the Rays' starting rotation and could be given a legitimate shot to claim a permanent spot next spring.
