C Cameron Rupp belted a two-run home run off San Francisco Giants ace LHP Madison Bumgarner in the seventh inning Saturday night to rally the Phillies to a 3-2 win. The home run was Rupp's third in his last four games, a stretch during which he has recorded at least one extra-bats hit in each game. Phillies manager Pete Mackanin announced before Saturday's game that Rupp, who has caught all 28 games of RHP Aaron Nola's career, would not start Sunday's finale. C Carlos Ruiz is expected to get the start.

INFs Andres Blanco and Emmanuel Burriss will serve as emergency catchers behind Carlos Ruiz until Rupp returns.

C Cameron Rupp missed Sunday's game against Cincinnati with knee and ankle soreness sustained from a collision at the plate that ended Saturday's game. Rupp, who is batting .238 on the season, will be re-evaluated Monday. "If it's going to be one or two days, we probably don't need to do anything," manager Pete Mackanin said. "I'm looking for a pitch up and hit the ball in the air. Keep the ball off the ground. He left me two good pitches to hit, the first two pitches laid off a couple sliders and then he left another pitch up that I could get."

C Cameron Rupp doubled in a fourth consecutive game Tuesday. His hit went to left-center in the fourth off RHP Max Scherzer as Ryan Howard lumbered into third base from first. Rupp would have had an RBI with most any other runner on first.

After making six consecutive starts behind the plate, Rupp will turn over catching duties to Carlos Ruiz, who will bat seventh in the order.

Rupp will take a seat after appearing in six of the Phillies' past seven games. Carlos Ruiz will be behind the dish and catch for rookie right-hander Jerad Eickhoff.

Rupp went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in Friday's loss to Atlanta.

As he slowly takes the reins from veteran catcher Carlos Ruiz, Rupp has developed into a bit of a power threat. Over the past month, Rupp has gone yard five times and, despite hitting just one homer prior to the All-Star break, his eight dingers since ranks fifth among catchers.
