CLEVELAND (AP) — Rain has forced the postponement of Saturday's game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians.Heavy rain began falling about two hours before the scheduled 4:10 p.m. first pitch, and the game was called at 5:28 p.m. It was rescheduled for 1:10 p.m. on May 3, previously an off day for both teams.Sunday's series finale could also be in jeopardy because the rain is predicted to last through the weekend. The Blue Jays are making their only scheduled trip to Cleveland.Corey Kluber (1-0), the reigning AL Cy Young winner, was scheduled to start for the Indians. The right-hander struck out 13 and allowed two hits in eight innings against Detroit on Monday. Jaime Garcia (1-0) was set to make his third start for Toronto. The Blue Jays signed the left-hander in February. The Blue Jays rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win Friday night's series opener 8-4. Teoscar Hernandez, called up from Triple-A Buffalo, hit an RBI double off relief ace Andrew Miller in the seventh inning to drive in the winning run.Aledyms Diaz hit a game-tying three-run homer in the fourth and the Indians didn't score over the final seven innings. Cleveland stranded 16 baserunners, committed two errors and saw its five-game winning streak come to an end.

DETROIT (AP) — It may take a while for the New York Yankees to finish their three games in Detroit this season. The Yankees and Tigers were rained out Saturday, with bad weather threatening to wash away most of New York's only scheduled visit to the Motor City this year. The Yankees beat the Tigers 8-6 on Friday night, and the teams will try to play a split doubleheader Sunday to finish this three-game series — but the weather then might not be any better."It doesn't look very good, but we'll just try and have a good day of rest today," New York manager Aaron Boone said. "Some guys getting a little bit of work in now, and prepare ourselves like we are getting ready to go tomorrow, and then we'll see what Mother Nature has for us."The Tigers would send left-handers Francisco Liriano (1-1) and Matthew Boyd (0-1) to the mound Sunday against New York right-handers Luis Severino (2-1) and Luis Cessa (0-0). A look at what's happening all around the majors today:___BIRD WATCHINGAlex Cobb's debut for the Baltimore Orioles is a tough assignment. The right-hander faces J.D. Martinez, Mookie Betts and the fast-starting Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Cobb signed a $57 million, four-year contract with the Orioles as a free agent on March 21. He went 10-12 last year with a 3.66 ERA for Tampa Bay in his first full year back after missing nearly two seasons because of Tommy John surgery. Boston is 11-2 for only the second time in team history, matching the 1918 World Series champions.EMPTY SEATSPlaying before sparse crowds at home, the Miami Marlins host Jameson Taillon and the first-place Pittsburgh Pirates (9-4). In his previous start, Taillon (2-0, 1.26 ERA) threw a one-hitter in a 5-0 win over Cincinnati. Miami (4-9) has posted abysmal attendance numbers this week, averaging 6,556 fans for a three-game series with the New York Mets before drawing 6,852 for Friday night's victory over Pittsburgh.... A person familiar with the negotiations says free agent Mark Reynolds and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a minor league contract and the first baseman would get a $1.5 million, one-year deal if added to the 40-man roster. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because the agreement is subject to a successful physical.Reynolds was among the free agents who had a difficult time finding a deal in a historically slow market. The 34-year-old hit .267 with 30 home runs, 97 RBIs and 175 strikeouts last year in his second season with the Colorado Rockies, but was a far bigger threat at hitter-friendly Coors Field than on the road. He batted .294 with 21 homers and 58 RBIs at home, but just .242 with nine homers and 39 RBIs on the road.A right-handed hitter, he batted just .231 with seven homers and 23 RBIs last year against left-handed pitchers.Reynolds' agreement was first reported by FanRag Sports. He is a veteran of 11 big league seasons and has a .237 average with 281 homers and 811 RBIs.Washington manager Dave Martinez said he had no knowledge of an agreement but after hearing about it said "he's a veteran guy that gives us depth."___AP freelance writer Harvey Valentine in Washington contributed to this report.___More AP baseball: https://apnews.com/tag/MLBbaseball
