We love the way he's started his big league career," Green said. "We want to take care of him. We want to put him in the best position where he has the best shot at health for a long time. SAN DIEGO (AP) — Eric Hosmer, San Diego's $144 million man, acknowledges he simply wasn't as good as he needed to be in what was supposed to be a steppingstone season for the rebuilding Padres. The burst of energy provided by Hosmer's signing during spring training didn't last long.
