OF Jarrod Dyson was scheduled to have season-ending surgery on his sports hernia Thursday, manager Scott Servais said.

CF Jarrod Dyson will undergo season-ending surgery for a problem that is similar to a sports hernia.Dyson sustained a groin injury last month, and team officials believed he was suffering from a sports hernia. He has not played in a game since Sept. 2.The 33-year-old veteran hit .251 with five homers but also stole 28 bases and scored 56 runs this season. He played in 111 games, including 99 as a starter. Dyson was hitless in his past 12 at-bats.Dyson should be fully recovered by spring training. He is eligible for free agency after the season.

OF Jarrod Dyson was given the day off Monday as he battles a right groin strain. Manager Scott Servais said that Dyson should be able to manage the injury. "Certainly Jarrod Dyson running at 85 percent is pretty fast," Servais said. "Faster than most of our guys at 100 percent." Dyson is hitting .251 with a team-leading 28 stolen bases in 346 at-bats.

CF Jarrod Dyson is expected to come off the 10-day disabled list for Friday's series opener against Oakland, Seattle manager Scott Servais said Wednesday. Dyson has been sidelined since Aug. 17 with a strained right groin.
