Jepsen threw a scoreles ninth inning to earn his 10th save of the season in Wednesday's win over the White Sox. Closer Glen Perkins was unavailable with a sore back.
Perkins will likely be out a few days or more with the sore back, so Jepsen could get several more save chances in the next few days. He could also take over the closer role if Perkins continues to be bothered by a sore back and sore neck from a bulging disc in his neck.

Jepsen picked up his ninth save in a scoreless ninth inning on Friday, despite allowing two hits and a walk in a 31-pitch outing. He did however strike out two.
Jepsen was very sketchy in this game, but he managed to eek out the save in the absence of Glenn Perkins. This is now his fourth save of the week and if you were lucky enough to pick him up and stream some saves, congratulations. With that said, his time as the Twins closers are numbered as Perkins is due back any day now.

Jepsen secured his eighth save on Wednesday in a 5-3 victory over the Rays, tossing a scoreless ninth inning while striking out a batter.
Jepsen has been impressive since the July 31 trade from these very same Rays, pitching effectively over 14 relief appearances and converting all three save opportunities with his new club. The veteran reliever has also provided solid set up work and figures to continue as a key contributor to the Twins bullpen for the remainder of the season.

Jepsen recorded his second save for the Twins (and seventh this season) by pitching a scoreless ninth inning in Saturday's win over Baltimore.
It's not guarantee that closer Glen Perkins will return from a bulging disk in his neck (even though he's not on the DL), so it's possible Jepsen could take over the closer role the rest of the season. With saves the past two games, he's clearly the short-term option while Perkins is sidelined through at least Tuesday after a cortisone shot.

Jepsen logged his sixth save - his first with the Twins - with a perfect ninth inning in the Twins' 4-3 win over Baltimore on Friday night.
Recently acquired from Tampa Bay, Jepsen was particularly impressive, striking out all three hitters he faced while protecting a one-run lead. Regular closer Glen Perkins is suffering from a sore neck, and received a cortisone injection earlier in the week. He is not expected to be available before next Tuesday, and Jepsen was the leading candidate to fill in. This performance would certainly seem to solidify that plan.

Jepsen is the favorite to close out games while Glen Perkins is sidelined with a neck issue, LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Jepsen recorded five saves with the Marlins earlier in the season, and his success this season continued despite the move from Tampa Bay to Minnesota. It's unclear how long Perkins will miss, but it appears Jepsen will receive the first crack at the closer role.

Jepsen figures to be in the mix for save opportunities in the short term with Glen Perkins set to receive a cortisone injection Wednesday followed by an MRI on his ailing neck.
Nothing official has been announced with regard to who could pick up some saves while Perkins is out, but Jepsen is the most likely candidate, given current and past performance. He has 10 career saves and a 2.74 ERA this season while splitting time between the Rays and Twins, although his K-rate of 19.3 percent is the lowest mark he has posted in four seasons.
Fri Jul 31 201514:02Jepsen traded from Rays to Twins on Friday
Jepsen was traded from the Rays to the Twins on Friday, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Jepsen will beef up the Twins' late-inning mix in front of closer Glen Perkins. Jepsen has had some issues with walks this year, but he has given up just 34 hits and 13 earned runs (2.81 ERA) in 41.2 innings, and will likely be the top option to close if Perkins is unavailable at any point.
Fri Jul 31 201512:02Kevin Jepsen: Traded To Minnesota
The Tampa Bay Rays agreed to trade relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen to the Minnesota Twins on Friday, according to FOX Sports.
The Tampa Bay Rays agreed to trade relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen to the Minnesota Twins on Friday, according to FOX Sports. Jepsen has a 2.81 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 41.2 innings this season and is expected to serve as a top setup man to closer Glen Perkins.

Jepsen is the most likely reliever at the top of Tampa Bay's bullpen to be traded, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jepsen has continued his excellent results from 2014 with a 2.88 ERA and American League lead in appearances in 2015. The Rays are stacked enough in late-inning arms that sending Jepsen away to a team that wants to try him as a set-up man or even a closer would be a decent idea if they receive a good offer.

Jepsen tied for the American League lead in appearances with 42 in the first half of the season, while also registering a 3.11 ERA and 1.327 WHIP.
Jepsen has put up excellent results for the Rays as a late-inning reliever, but there's a decent chance he won't take that success into the second half. His peripherals add up to a 4.24 ERA and his BABIP against is .259, well under his career .315. It's also unlikely he'll see many save opportunities with both Brad Boxberger and Jake McGee putting up excellent results.

Jepsen earned a save in his third consecutive outing with a scoreless ninth inning Sunday against the Mariners.
Closer Brad Boxberger has been dealing with some tightness in his arm and Jepsen has filled in flawlessly, earning three saves in a four-game span. Boxberger could return as soon as Tuesday, but whenever he does miss a game Jepsen is the clear deputy for the Rays.

Jepsen collected another save Friday, pitching around a hit with a strikeout in a scoreless ninth against the Mariners.
That's now saves on consecutive days for Jepsen, who was able to escape despite a leadoff triple by Austin Jackson. Ninth-inning-needy fantasy owners should be looking into his availability, as Brad Boxberger has allowed five runs in his last five innings and appears to have been at least temporarily booted from the closing role. Jake McGee could factor into things too, though.

Jepsen picked up his second save of the season, walking one and striking out two in a scoreless ninth against the Mariners on Thursday.
One night after Brad Boxberger blew the save, Jepsen got the call in the ninth and picked up his second save in four opportunities, sending the Mariners down to their sixth straight loss. It's unlikely that Jepsen will see the ninth in save situations as the Rays' bullpen is crowded with the likes of Jake McGee, Boxberger, Ernesto Frieri and Steven Geltz.

Jepsen has registered a 2.08 ERA so far in 2015, but has not seen the ninth inning since his save on April 14.
With Jake McGee back and approaching 100 percent, it's looking like Jepsen won't see the ninth inning again in the 2015 season outside of a non-save situation or injury. The Rays will soon have two closers with McGee and Brad Boxberger, and Ernesto Frieri has seen more final innings than Jepsen.

Jepsen pitched a perfect ninth inning Tuesday against the Blue Jays to record his first save of the season.
The Rays are going with a pretty strict closer-by-committee approach to start the season, as Brad Boxberger and Ernesto Frieri have also saved games over the past three days. Jepsen was the most well-rested of the trio Tuesday, which may have led to his number being called. It would be nice if the closer situation was at worst a two-man job, but with three cooks in the kitchen it will be difficult to extract a ton of value out of the situation while Jake McGee is out. Still, there are a lot of leagues where beggars can't be choosers and Jepsen should be added as he has yet to give up a run and has given up just one hit and one walk while striking out five through four innings to start the season.

Jepsen was not used in a save situation Sunday when the Rays opted to rest Brad Boxberger.
In three appearances this season, Jepsen has not allowed an earned run. The decision to rest him Sunday may have been due to the fact that the Rays extended a two-run lead to a three-run lead in the top of the ninth, and that Ernesto Frieri was already loose after recording the final out of the eighth. Nevertheless, Jepsen's usage is worth monitoring closely, as he may be the next in line to close if Boxberger suffers an injury while Jake McGee is rehabbing his elbow.
Fri Jan 16 201516:54Jepsen and Rays have avoided arbitration with one-year
Jepsen and the Rays have avoided arbitration with a one-year, $3.025 million contract, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The veteran reliever enjoyed a career year in 2014 and was rewarded for it by his new team, the Rays. He figures to be on of Tampa Bay's top right-handed options out of the bullpen.

The Angels traded Jepsen to the Rays on Tuesday for outfielder Matt Joyce, Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Jepsen posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and .192 BAA in 74 appearances with the Angels last season en route to a team-leading 22 holds. He still has a 3.94 ERA and 1.36 WHIP for his career, however, and did benefit from a .263 BABIP (career .322) and a 79.2 percent strand rate last season, so it makes some sense that the Angels would want to sell high. The 30-year-old will likely slot in as the Rays' No. 2 right-handed bullpen option, behind Brad Boxberger.

Jepsen retired the side in order to pick up his second save of the season Friday against the Astros.
Jepsen was the beneficiary of a shaky night from Huston Street, as he came on in the tenth inning after Street blew the lead in the ninth. Jepsen has been a strong performer this year for the Angels, tallying a 1.96 ERA and 20 holds in 59.2 innings, but it seems likely that his save opportunities will be few and far between going forward.
