Victorino is out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Victorino will likely serve in a loose platoon with David Murphy, resulting in Murphy's start against the right-handed Zack Greinke. He served as the leadoff hitter in Thursday's game against a lefty, and that could be the case moving forward, but his starts will likely be somewhat sporadic when it comes to right-handed pitching.

Mon Jul 27 201518:03Shane Victorino: Traded to the Angels
Victorino has been traded to the Angels for infielder Josh Rutledge, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
The move ultimately frees up an outfield spot for Rusney Castillo, who has spent most of the season at Triple-A Pawtucket. Victorino figures to slot in as the Angels' primary left fielder, as Matt Joyce has been unproductive this season while working in the outfield and as a DH for the Halos.

The Pirates are looking at Victorino as a possible trade target, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
The Pirates are looking to add some support for the stretch run, having already added Aramis Ramirez for the infield. Victorino, who has been limited to 34 games due to injury, shouldn't cost the Pirates too much.
Sun Jul 26 201517:53Victorino out of lineup Sunday against Tigers
Victorino is out of the lineup Sunday against the Tigers, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Victorino no longer looks to be an everyday option for the Red Sox, as he's ceded more frequent at-bats to Alejandro De Aza of late. The Red Sox could look to deal Victorino to a contender prior to the July 31 deadline, but the outfielder's exorbitant salary and declining production might make it difficult to find a suitor.

Victorino started in right field Saturday and had two hits and two runs scored in a win over Houston. He was activated off the disabled list Friday after rehabbing a hamstring injury.

Fri Jul 3 201517:04Shane Victorino: (Calf) Activated Friday
Victorino (calf) was activated from the DL on Friday, the Providence Journal's Tim Britton reports.
While he is not in the lineup Friday, look for Victorino to see a good amount of playing time in right field going forward. He should share time with Alejandro De Aza, but if the Red Sox want to showcase Victorino it would make sense if he was used as the primary option in the short term.
Fri Jul 3 201515:04Shane Victorino: (Calf) Activated Friday
The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Shane Victorino from the disabled list Friday after he recovered from a calf injury, according to the Providence Journal.
The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Shane Victorino from the disabled list Friday after he recovered from a calf injury, according to the Providence Journal. Victorino is not in the starting lineup Friday for the series-opener against the Houston Astros, but Red Sox manager John Farrell said he is not worried about Victorino's ability to perform going forward, as he looked sharp during his rehab assignment. “The number of plays in which he made in right field, the at-bats that he had, he scored from second base on a sacrifice fly the other night, so in terms of flat-out running speed and intensity, that test has been passed,” Farrell said, adding that the team will still need to monitor Victorino's playing time for the time being. The Red Sox will enter Friday's game in last place in the American League East division with a 37-44 record.
Mon Jun 29 201512:27Victorino (calf) unlikely to rejoin Red Sox before Friday
Victorino (calf) is unlikely to rejoin the Red Sox before Friday, and the team wants to see him play back-to-back rehab games in the outfield before he is activated, the Providence Journal reports.
Victorino has played four rehab games thus far, tallying four hits in 13 at-bats. He figures to return during the Red Sox's eight-game homestand to close out the first half, possibly as soon as Friday against the Astros. The once-crowded Boston outfield has been hamstrung by injuries and poor play, so Victorino should have a significant role. At the very least, he'll be a regular presence in the lineup against lefties and will also get some playing time versus right-handers.
Mon Jun 29 201510:27Shane Victorino: (Calf) Could Return Friday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino will likely be out until at least Friday, as the team wants him to play back-to-back rehab games as he continues to recover from a calf injury, according to the Providence Journal.
Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino will likely be out until at least Friday, as the team wants him to play back-to-back rehab games as he continues to recover from a calf injury, according to the Providence Journal. Victorino has not played since straining his calf muscle May 23, but is nearing a return, as he already has four rehab games under his belt. The Boston outfield has really struggled to consistently produce, and Victorino figures to have a sizable role upon his return after apparently being relegated to a reserve role earlier in the season. The 34-year-old has been limited to just 55 at-bats to this point, but should be a regular in the lineup against left-handers and will see time against righties as well thanks to his outfield defense. It appears that Victorino will be back at some point this week.
